I am trying to find the birth place and parents of THOMAS GIBSON who stated he was born in Shropshire about 1812.

Thomas was living in Lancashire in 1838 when he was arrested for house breaking in Lancaster and was sentenced to transportation to New South Wales. At that time, Thomas' was stated as being a Machine Setter, aged 26 years old and single.

Thomas married in Sydney, NSW in 1844 and fathered 13 children before his death in 1865. He also worked in both Australia and New Zealand between 1844 and 1865.

It is possible that his family had moved to Lancashire or were originally from Lancashire. Later information from his children's birth certificates states he was born at Stalybridge, Lancashire.

Male family names given to his children include:- Edward, James, Abraham, Thomas, Robert, Henry and Stead.

Female family names given to his children include:-
Jane, Sarah Ann, Mary Elizabeth, Eliza, Catherine and Susannah (the last 2 can be attributed to the mother's side).
