Lyn,
Finally got somewhere with your query.
Richard was baptised on 5 July 1806 at Much Wenlock. His parents were Richard Wood Wellings and Mary Maria Lloyd. Elizabeth was Elizabeth CAY, born 3 June 1802 at Wroxeter. Key may well have been her proper surname, but the church authorities in Wroxeter (halfway between Shrewsbury and Telford) were a bit more liberal with their spelling. It may be that she had siblings spelt Kay and Key as well.
I found Richard and Elizabeth on the 1851 census at Morville, nr Bridgnorth, with their children Richard (b. 1837), Edmund (b. 1841), and George (b. 1846 according to the census). Richard was listed as an ag. lab.
I found Elizabeth again in the 1881 census living in Acton Round, the next village to Morville, with her unmarried son, Edmund.
I believe Richard died in the last quarter of 1871. The reference for the death certificate is 6a 413 if you wish to purchase it. Elizabeth died between July and Sept 1885: the reference number for her death certificate is 6a 358.
That's all for now. If you need any more help or any verifiction, please don't hesitate to contact me at

david@farmery99.freeserve.co.uk

Regards,
David Farmery

Hi David. Thanks for getting back to me so promptly.
Richard Wood Wellings married Elizabeth Key on the 15th August 1832 at Holy Cross & St Giles Shrewsbury, Shropshire. They had a son George Wellings in 1844. He came out to Australia when he was in his twenties and married Francis Fletcher in Cobden Victoria in 1870. Georges death certificate names Richard Wood Wellings and Elizabeth Key as his parents. He states that Richard was a farmer.I hope you can help me as I am at a loose end at the moment. I don't know for sure who Elizabeth's parents were of who Richard Woods parents were. There is a possibility that Mary was Elizabeth's mothers name but I'm not sure.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thanks.

According to the 1851 census, George was born about 1812 and Ann about 1813. She was born in Ford, Shropshire. They had 2 children that year, John age 14 and Elizabeth, 12.
By 1871 George had aged by 3 years as his birth is now given as 1809. They now has a son Thomas age 26 at home and a railway worker. There is a marriage in Wem in 1844 that could be between George Whittaker and Ann Wilson.
In 1881, George and Ann had a grandaughter, Sarah Ann age 9. John was now at home and unmarried.
In 1841 there was a George Whittaker in Cotton who was supposed to be 25 and there was a woman named Sarah Whittaker, aged 60 at the same address. Could this be him and his mother?

Would anybody be kind enough to look up a family for me in 1891 please?

The info I have is on my husbands G G G G'father Matthew Lewis. In 1901, he was living in Church Stretton age 60, occ given as General Labourer. His wife is Anne Lewis. She had been married before but the children of Anne and Matthew are Matthew (age 17) and Sarah (age 12).

In 1881, Matthew was in the Forces living at Barracks. Anne was then Anne Morris living in Church Stretton stated as widowed. As Matthew and Annes first child is 17 I'm estimating they married within a couple of years after the 1881 Census.

Any information will be very gratefully received. Thank you.
Sarah

Eric, there is a book out there by I believe by Arthur Boycott which details a lot about the Boycott family history. You can get it in England. Also, I have spoken to Nick Boycott who has done a family tree on Ancestry.com. He also lives in England. I live in the US in Illinois. We are probably related. My grandfather was Albert Boycott and his father was William Boycott from England. Try finding Nick Boycott though on this website. The family tree he has done so far is amazing.
Sincerely,
Donna Boycott

The transcripts of the 1881 + 1891 census I emailed to you(have you received them? any questions on info? answer privately) will tell you your grandfather's (John Thomas Burgess) family of that time. Compare his age, place of birth and parents with any information on any birth - marriage certificates you have. The 1891 clearly shows New England as their address and you know that is where they lived. Use the free bmd website for later marriages, births, deaths. After about 1912 for births, the maiden name of mother is listed. I have Edith's line as proven by certificates.

I don't think there is a name Suni and the confusion may have arisen over the original handwriting on the 1851 census. If you look carefully the Suni as indexed is Isaac.
He was called Isaac when he married Henrietta in 1846 and in every subsequent census.
He states born Woombridge in 1851 but Dawley after that.
Woombridge I believe was near Wrockwardine.
Henrietta Pitchford baptised 31st December 1827 Dawley Magna
parents Timothy and Mary.(This looks the most likely)
Marriage certificate will give names of both parties.
Isaac Jones/Henrietta Pitchford
December qtr 1846 ref.

Hi - can anyone help with trying to find a marriage between a Robert Evans and his wife Elizabeth, who was also named Evans before her marriage and I believe she was his cousin. They both came from Oswestry, and both were hawkers of ceramic pots. I beleive they married about 1858, probably in Oswestry (though possibly in Montgomery). I did find a possible reference int he GRO for Montgomery in 1861, but both the local office in Welshpool and the GRO say that though there is an ELizabeth and a Robert Evans on the same page, they didn't marry each other.
I would love to track this down for my aunt, who would like to know about her family, and who has been wonderful to me since I recently lost my mother. Any help would be most welcome. Thank you.

Thanks for your reply. I did send for details of what appeared to be the correct marriage, but on further investigation though both were on the same page, they actually married other people, so sadly I still haven't been able to track the marriage down. They travelled around a lot - which doesn't help - selling pottery/ceramics etc. They also appear to move between Shropshire and various locations in Wales, which also confuses matters. As a result I haven't been able to get back that much further. I live in hope though. thanks for your kind thoughts about my mother - time is as ever a great healer.

Best wishes, and thanks.
