Suffolk-Aldeburgh-- looking for information

I am trying to find out the parents or information that might lead me to the parents of my gggrandparents. James Fisher born c. 1842 in Aldeburgh married Hannah Chittlebrough (b. c. 1841 in Sudbourne) before 1863. Hannah died May 20,1910; James date of death is unknown. They show up in the 1871/1881 and 1891 census. James was Boot and Shoe Maker and Shoe Dealer on High Street. They had 9 children.Three daughters, Emma,Henrietta and Angelina did not marry. Grace married George Gedge and they had one child, Dulcie. Alice married Edward Almond. Stephen married Margaret Day, Arthur married Letitia Crisp and my great grandmother, Emily married William Martin at the Parish Church in Aldeburgh and emigrated to Canada in the early 1900's. William's parents were John Martin born circa 1831 and died Oct. 3, 1878. he was born in Newmarket, Suffolk. He married Caroline Cubbage (born circa 1929 in Alveston,Warwickshire, died unknown) before 1859. They also appear in the 1871/81 and 91 census living in Aldeburgh. However their first two children, ALice and Emily were born in London, Newington. Their next four, John, Edith, Helen and Caroline were born in Saxmundham, Suffolk and William was born in Aldeburgh. John and then Caroline owner a draper's/grocer shop. The 1881 census shows that John and Edith were boarders at Durley House, Thoroughfare, Woodbridge, Suffolk, which I assume was a school. ALice was a vistor with William Martin in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, which I am assuming may have been John's brother. If anyone has information from the 1861 or previous census' that can help me determine their parents or siblings, it would be much appreciated.

Hi Patricia,
I am tracing my ancestry and have found a Frederick Fisher who was my great, great grandfather.
He was also a boot maker from Aldeburgh.
Below is the 1851 Census.
I have just read your thread from 2005, would this be the same person, and can you assist me with additional information?
Thanks,
Bob Fisher

Regret, I have no interest in this name, I was carrying out look ups in White's of 1844 and 1855 to help the original poster of this thread.

Hi Sue,
Thank you very much for the information regarding Frederick Fisher.

Perhaps you could help me with research into my great grandmother Hannah N or Anne wife of Robert Fisher or Robert C. Fisher, born about 1840 son of Frederick?
Robert may have been the Blacksmith in Patricia Bridges posting of March 28th, 2005 however in 1871 the family were living in West Ham.

1871 Census, Source ProRef RG10, Piece 1630, Folio 98, page 49
Address 17 Junction Street, West Ham, Essex
Name Relation Age Birth year Birthplace Occupation
Robert C. Fisher head, 31, born about 1840 Aldborough, Suffolk Smith (unemployed)
Hannah N. or Anne wife, 30, born about 1841 Alderborough, Suffolk
Frederick W. Thorpe son, 9, born about 1862 Alderborough, Suffolk, Scholar
Mary J. Fisher dau, 4, born about 1867 Halesworth, Suffolk, Scholar
Robert J. Fisher son, 1, born about 1870 Halesworth, Suffolk
Margaret Fisher dau, 1 mth, born about 1871 Brentwood, Essex

My grandfather’s birth certificate has his mother’s maiden name as Anna Maria Green, however there is a son named Thorpe on the 1871 Census.
I can only find a reference to the marriage of Robert Fisher to Anna Maria Thorp in 1865 Plomsgate, Vol 4a, page 984 at the BMD web site.

There was a Anna M Green listed on the 1861 Census, Source ProRef RG9, Piece 1176, Folio 112, page: 19, GSU roll: 542769
Address 114 Back Street, Aldeburgh, Suffolk
Name Relation Age Birth year Birthplace Occupation
James Green head, 42, born about1819 Aldborough, Suffolk Mariner
Anna M Green dau, 20 born about1841 Aldborough, Suffolk
Mary E Green dau, 14 born about1847 Aldborough, Suffolk
John E Green son, 12 born about1849 Aldborough, Suffolk Scholar
Margaret Green dau, 10 born about1851 Aldborough, Suffolk

Is it possible Anna, Anne or Hannah N, married a Thorpe before Robert Fisher between the census in 1861 and 1871?
Are you able to find out this please?
Thanks,
Bob Fisher

I have checked in 1844 as I see my previous look ups were in 1855 edition.
Robert is not listed as a blacksmith in Aldeburgh or in Halesworth in 1844.

I love the spelling of the town of Aldeburgh in the 1871 census taken at West Ham, the enumerator has written down exactly what this good ode bor hev said, Alderborough!

Hi
Don't think I can be of much help to you.The source I have for parish registers for Aldeburgh only go up to 1817.
I think it would be best to get the Fisher/Thorpe marriage certificate to see if she is your lady and its looking like it.
I would have suggested getting the birth cert of Fred Thorpe but was unable to find one, so I think the next step is to look for a baptism in the Aldeburgh registers to see if that reveals anything, especially a father.
Its interesting that the Green family you found had a Margaret in the household and that Robert and Anna had a daughter Margaret.
