Hi Paul, Allthough my name is Savage I have no connection with the Savage family of Norfolk mine originated in London but I do have connections with the Buck family of Gt Ellingham. My 3x great grandparents were Benjamin Buck and Frances Flowers of that parish,I have yet to find child baptism's for any of their children so it is assumed they were non comformists but ther was at least one adult baptism for a Joseph Buck bapt 8 Jan 1825 the age given would have him born abt 1809. I have a marriage of a Joseph to a Harriet Plumpton at Attleborough on the 6 Oct 1842 this Joseph was a schoolmaster at Ipswich Suffolk in 1845. knowing how small the parish of Gt Ellingham is it seems a strange coincidence to have two Joseph's around the same age in that parish, also you have a Benjamin in your line as well?

Hello Dennis,

Looks like there may be a connection. What I have so far ... Benjamin Buck married Frances (?). Never had a last name for Frances but looks like your Flowers.

Benjamin had 2 children that I know of - Joseph Buck and James Buck, who married Maria Vince.

My Joseph married Eliza Savage, 1866 and lived in Aldeburgh where they ran a bookshop. I always thought that this may be a second marriage for Joseph as Eliza was born around 1837, a 25 year gap in ages.

Joseph and Eliza had 4 children that I know of - Joseph Edgar; Benjamin; Charles; George Flowers Buck. I suspected that George's middle name was connected in some way to a family surname. George died at the age of 10.

My Joseph Edgar married Mary Ann Bowden and had a daughter named Evelyn Hilda May Buck. Evelyn in turn married Joseph Oakley of Ealing, Middlesex and had 12 children, one of whom was Rose Oakley - my mother.

Found I was actually chasing the wrong Buck line however, I do have a Henry Buck in my line.

Henry Buck - b1867 - Ashwellthorpe whose father was Henry, mother Mary Ann.

One of his brothers was James Buck, my line of Bucks born in Lowestoft.

What other information do you have about your Henry?

Paul

Thanks in advance, Janet

We are writing a history of Buckstown, Somerset County PA.& can find no vital stats regarding Henry Buck for whom the village was named other than that he was a wagonmaker. The village was named for him in 1830. Thank you for your time & any information.

The only Henry Buck I have on file is one born abt 1815 at Scoulton Nfk England. my family were from the Great and Little Ellingham areas. This area of Norfolk might be of interest as many inhabitants migrated from there to the US. Hence Hingham Mass etc. might be worth a look?.
