Does anyone know if there was a port or river in the Wrentham/Frostenden area of Suffolk? I'm sure i have read it somewhere.

My ancestor, James Beddingfield b.1798 in Wrentham was a Master Mariner and I am intrigued as to how he may have come into that line of work so was wondering if a nearby waterway may have been the reason.

They is a port at lowestoft which is not far from Wrentham about 6-8 miles at the most, or he could sailed from southwold. Hope this is of help to you. Frostenden is abit inland.
regards
steff

The Domesday Book shows that, 1000 years ago, sea-going ships tied up here - now three miles of farmland separate the village from the sea. There were also two churches here, and a thriving community.
