Taylor is a very common name in
England and it is not confined to one area and exists all over. I find your list of relatives very hard to beleive that they can all come from the same origin.
You say that a Thomas
Taylor born in
Hadleigh Suffolk, 1548, had a son also Thomas, born in
Hadleigh Essex, 1574. This son then travelled 300 miles north to
Carlisle,
Cumberland and gave birth to a son John in 1618, who presumably stayed in
Carlisle as he had a son James there in 1634. However John's father had left him in
Carlisle before the age of 7 and returned South not to his birthplace
Hadleigh,
Essex, but to his father's place of birth,
Hadleigh Suffolk, where he died in 1618.
Have you first hand documentary evidence that these people are all from the same family as I know how hard it is working from just parish records to positively identify people of the same name who just travel to the next village in their lifetime, let alone the breadth of
England.
Distances may not seem very far but to travel that far in those times would have taken many days even if they were rich enough to own horses if not the journey would be weeks or months. I also wonder why someone living in the South East of
England would want to travel to the remote North West. Its also a little coincidence that someone Born in
Hadleigh Suffolk would end up in
Hadleigh Essex, although this was only a mere two days travel away.
