Have traced a marriage record for Harriet Weaver in Dec Q 1859 to Oliver but his surname is listed as JELLY not JOLIFFE.

Thank you so much for the information, it has solved a huge question mark in my family history. I have now been able to confirm with the information you provided that shortly after arriving in Australia they changed their surname from Jelly to Joliffe. I have confirmed arrival boat details in name of Jelly this being the previous missing information.

Harriet's parents were William and Mary Weaver and she was born 1 April 1838.

I am a bit confused about this family. I found a birth entry:

Harriett Weaver b. Jun Q 1838 Bedminster District Vol 11 p 74

I thought that this would be the best way to find out her mother's maiden name but when I looked on the 1841/1851 Census I can only find one Harriett Weaver as follows:

1841 Friendly Row, Pill, Easton in Gordano, Somerset
Samuel Weaver 26? Tailor
Sarah Weaver 24
Harriet Weaver 3
Thomas Weaver 1 All born in Somerset
HO 107/956/5 f 13 p 9

Also a marriage:
Samuel Weaver married Sarah Porter Mar Q 1838 Bristol 11 496.

It is very likely that if you order the birth certificate it will be this Harriett as Bedminster District includes Easton in Gordano.

Do you have Harriett's marriage certificate - is the father given as William? Sorry I don't know what else to suggest.
I have checked births & marriages, Census & the IGI.
