Having had another look at the 1841 census page, I think in fact it says George
Purnell
not Leorys. The writing is not very good. George would make more sense being the name of Mary Wait`s (nee
Purnell
) father.

I think James and Maria were married in 1831 may be at Radstock, all the chidren just say their born at Radstock too, James says in the 1861 census he was born at
Holcombe
.

Well, my suspicion wasn't correct then!
Just a coincidence of names then, they are relatively common names in the area so that's probably it.
