Have you checked FreeBMD?

Henry WINES and Elizabeth LEACH married in the December quarter of 1850: reg. E. London vol. 2, p 230

If you send for the certificate it will give you the name of Henry's father.

The Somerset born John WINES living in Pancras in the 1861 census is married to an Eliza born Hammersmith. So, of the likely John WINES marriages, theirs is most likely to be the one in Shoreditch in the June qtr of 1848.

There is an Elizabeth CATT on the same page. (Eliza and Elizabeth often used interchangeably).

Many thanks for sending the info about the Wines'.It has enabled me to do some more research.We do have a Mormon church near us so I will call there.I am quite new to this family tree building and know little about computers!
However, I do find it very addictive and educational.I never realised I had so many relatives.
Can you tell me what is your connexion to the Wines Family?

I don't have any personal connection to the WINES family but saw your posting on the Rootsweb ENG-Somerset mailing list, as all messages on this board also appear there.
I just thought I would check some of the readily available resources - FreeBMD, FreeReg, census etc. which are normally the "first port of call" to see if some useful leads could be found.

Jim, I know that you are currently researching the Wines family, but is there any chance that you are descended from Jane Drummond who emigrated with her family from Ireland to WA & married Michael Clarkson in 1833? Sorry but I have no links to the Wines! Just wondered re Drummonds

I'm researching the Drummonds' and I can tell you a bit about them . Jane(1813-1905) arrived here in 1829 but I think from Scotland & not Ireland.Her Father was James(1784-1863. If you care to contact me by email and tell me your location I will be glad to tell what I have learned so far.
