All researchers please note that the Somerset Records Office
will be closed for all except the viewing of Fiche records from 5th April 2010 until July 4th, when the office will close completely until September at the earliest.

The Records office is moving to new premises, where it will re-open as Somerset Heritage Centre.

Latest update:

Mondays 2 January-29 March – On site access to fiche and originals closed.

We will still be open Tuesdays-Fridays, 9.00 am-5.00 pm during this time, and on selected Saturday mornings.

Tuesday 6 April-Friday 3 September – Access to original documents closed.

Wednesday 7 April-Friday 2 July – Access to microfilm/fiche OPEN Tuesdays-Fridays.

Monday 5 July-Friday 3 September – Access to microfilm/fiche closed.

Hi Jan
Do you happen to have any information about the WINES' Family that lived in the South Petherton,Taunton area?

I am particulary anxious to make contact with any relatives of
William who married Hannah,John William who married Eliza,
and Elizabeth.
Any leads would be appreciated.

Just a note about Wines family. Although I don't have any connection, I have been reading a couple of Somerset films recently, and I would advise anyone researching this name, to also take into account names transcribed as Vines, because the handwriting in the registers is easily mistaken V for W.
