My mother and father lived on
Shearer Street in
Shelton in the early 1970's. There was a
Toft family who's back gate was opposite ours. I was born there in 1974 and my younger brother in 1976. My mum can't remember the names of the parents but the children were: John, Alan, Sandra, Irene and the youngest was Nigel. My mother actually named my youngest brother Nigel after him. Nigel
Toft used to come over to play with me as a baby. One of the son's went into the Armed Forces (
Navy?) and one of the sons also made my mum a bookcase that we took to Norfolk with us when we moved down there.
My mum bumped into Mrs
Toft years later in
Hanley market, at the time she had had an accident with her knee and she was walking with a stick, unfortunately we haven't seen her since.
