I am looking for present day decendences of these relatives with children of Thomas, Rosa M, Eliza, Frederick W, John, Florence K, Anne E. Edwin Emery, as on the 1881 British Census. Their son Thomas came to Canada in 1882 and married Nancy Lewis in in 1893.

Trying to help, by finding them on subsequent census records, and then marriage records etc. BUT, I cannot even find them on the 1881 census, can you send a copy or say exactly where they were, and what were the ages.

Impressed with the quick response. I have just found a Frederick William Phillips on the 1901 England Census.
He is married to Louisa with children Frederick W, aged 12; Elsie aged 8; and Leslie aged 5. Hope that I am the right track. I do have note of a Frederick William and Leslie Phillips on the 1939/40 voters list at 17 Cadbury Road with a Phyllis Gertrude present. I have good record of Edwin Emery married to Bertha Myers 18/10/18 in Australia when he was part of the Australian Imperial Forces. Florence K is believed to have married a Frederick Herbert Terry in 1887. Thomas married Nancy Lewis 1893 in Calgary, Canada after coming to Canada in 1882. These are my great grand parents. I have no other records of the rest of the great uncles and aunts. Rosa M and Annie A are a good find but Annie has a E as a second initial. Don't sweat the small stuff. Hope to hear more. Regards

I hope you got my message sent through the contact service, with a man named Frederick W Phillips in Warwickshire.

Have you been able to make contact with any of the Australian Phillips, or are they also a mystery?

On the 1891 census this is Florence and her husband, with son and two servants (one of the servats is called Clara Phillips)
Cannot find them on the 1901 census, but did find them on the 1911. They only appear to have had the one son.

Edwin may have gone to Australia in 1913, but his family were not with him on this journey.

Name: Edwin E Phillips
Port of Departure: Melbourne
Port of Arrival: Sydney, New South Wales
Voyage Arrival Date: 10 Jan 1913
Vessel Name: Suffolk

BUT, I found him on the 1911 census, with Bertha and two daughters. I can find the births of the girls, but cannot find a marriage for Edwin and his lovely bride.

Information on Frederick William Phillips in Warwickshire was recieved and will be followed up on as time permitted. The only Australian contact was a Maryrose Phillips but is not a strong contact. The information on Edwin was interesting and I do have all his military records from his time in Australia which includes his marriage information. Included is a resident address of Bertha in England

Edwin Emery Phillips and Bertha Myers married in Victoria state of Australia in 1918 as in his military records. But interesting Bertha is mentioned as next of kin on his enlistment onfo of 1916 into the 21st Battalion, 13th Reinforcement, Australian Commonwealth Military Force. Bertha's address was then stated as 2 Struan Terrace, East Boldon, Durham, England. They live at 2 Dundas Place, Albert Park, Melbourne on the 1919 voters list and 47 Finlay st on the 1924 list. He maintains his clerk employment as he did in the military. Your passenger info for 1913 and on Florence K Terry is the same as mine. I had a hard time making out their son's name on census and thank you for clarification.

I live in England, in Co. Durham. East Boldon is very near to Jarrow, where they were on the 1911 census. Bertha states born in the South of England, so the question is, why did she come North, or where did she meet Edwin. The other odd thing is that theygot married years after the children were born, yet the children have his name. Did the two girls go to Australia with them, and when did she go to Australia. Did they stay there, or come back to England
