My mother was a Douthwaite before marriage, and her aunt is still alive, (87) she knows the family came from Longsleddale in Westmorland. I have a bit of info there which may help you in her ancestors - but I am stuck as to what happened to them,

Hi there..Im not sure if my search connectes with yours, but perhaps if I throw some names down It my help distinquish. My great Grandfather George Douthwaite was from Stockton. He married Eleanor Jordon They had four children Harry (who my search is about, he disapeared from Cirencester in 1954) Jack Douthwaite, Maurice Douthwaite and one still livin. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated THanks

I visited Lonsleddale, not far from me, saw Henry Douthwaite's grave, he was related to us, not sure how, can send details of grave if you like. Frazer is a cousin of mine, my Mum was a Douthwaite, her Father was Frazer's G'Dad's brother, raised in Milnthorpe, near Kendal, Lonsgsleddale is out of Kendal off the A6.

Elizabeth Betsy Douthwaite b. 1832, Ackenthwaite, Westmorland married Richard Monk 25/9/1856
they had 5 children, one of which (Oliver) married my grandmothers Aunt in Lancashire 1900
