Olive's ancesters mostly came from Bromham, Wiltshire.
One branch included an Elizabeth Fennell who married on Dec. 26, 1805 to Thomas Attwood (b1779)son of Thos*.Attwood and Sarah Croome. Thos*.Attwood (senior) was the son of James Attwood & his wife Alice.
All the above at Bromham or thereabouts, in Wiltshire
Thomas had a sister Patience (b march 30, 1788) married James King on Jan 7, 1811.
Patience & Thomas are Olive's direct ancesters.
We would be interested in any information relating to the Attwood family. Parents of Patience & Thomas, & their siblings.
We would be be happy to share whatever may be helpful to you

My first Fennell relation is Sarah, daughter of John and Warborough (Webb) born in 19/1/1744. She married Robert Hillier in 20/4/1767, all at Bromham. John was born 18/6/1714 at Bromham, his father was another John born in 11/10/1685 and his father Humphrey was christened on 20/5/1654, all at Bromham. His father was Richard, but I have no other details of him.

I'd be pleased to hear from any relations.

John Fennell and Warborough Webb are my 1st cousins, 8 times removed. Humphrey is my 8th g-grandfather. In my database, I have 9 generations under John and Warborough which I am willing to share. The "original" directly tracable Richard (b 1619-1620) m. Mary Lester (Lycester) 22 April 1639 in Bromham. Their children were Grace (1641), Ann (1645), Joan (1647), Robert (1649), Jane (1652), and Humphry (1654). The Fennells (sometimes Feneil) are thought to be descended from Henry Fenoure or Fennouille (b 1550-1555) married Elizabeth between 1575 and 1589 in Bromham.
I have a lot of family names from Richard on down. Please let me know what you may need. I am also interested in adding your family into my tree.
There are many Fennell family names that are from the area around Bromham, we can be pretty sure we are all related somehow.

I am chasing a Fennell line:

BAPTISMS, Parish (Village) of Bromham: Aug. 18, 1782: James, s/o Robert Fennell & Mary his wife.
BURIALS, Bromham: Apr. 15, 1840: James Fennell, age 57.
Is this the same James Fennell? Would like to know more of him.

Did he live in Cheltenham for a period? Note:
BISHOPS TRANSCRIPTS for ST. MARY'S Parish, CHELTENHAM:
Marriages: March 9, 1825; James Fennell of Cheltenham, batchelor, and Caroline Miles of Cheltenham, spinster. Signed James Fennell, Caroline Miles X her mark. In the presence of James Miles X his mark, Harriet Miles X her mark.

I know this Caroline is the same one who is in:
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE: 31 May, 1841, Parish of Chippenham, Wilts.; Joseph Youles, full age, Batchelor, Laborer, res. Foxham, father: Joseph Youles, Laborer; Caroline Miles, full age, Spinster, res. Foxham, father: James Miles, Druggist.

Caroline and Joseph then went to Illinois in US and became my ancestors.

I have James Fennell, bap 18 Aug 1782 in my tree born to Robert Fennell and Mary (Toughwell according to IGI Vital record). The Bromham Family Web site has JamesÂ’ death date as bef 29 Dec 1790. The complications are that there was also another James Fennell (also in my tree) bap 14 March 1784 to William Fennell and Hannah Wooten. The Parish records may indicate which James died 1790, sometimes the father was listed for a minor. I have not seen this on the parish records but will try to confirm. Which of the two James died aged 57 is up for debate although a copy of the death certificate from the UK may confirm.
I have no knowledge of James living in Cheltenham.
You will also find that the spelling of the Fennell name has been through many variations, Fennell, Fennel, Vennell, Feniel, Veniel. As most of the Fennells seemed to be Wiltshire farm labourers, I suspect few could write and the spelling was up to the person writing the record.
Sorry this has not been more help, if I find anything definite I will let you know.

Forgive me for taking over a year to reply. Somehow your original posting slipped through the net. It was not until I got a later one this summer, that I searched back and found yours. I would be very pleased to exchange information. Can I have your email address please?
