me again just found Edwards first marriage he married Mary Noyer in 1743 thats 22 years between his marriages trying to do the maths if he was 20 or older when he got married to mary he woukd 48 to 50 when Sophia was born

I wonder if anyone would be so kind as to do a baptism lookup for a Sophia or Sofhia CROWTER (or CROUTER) in Mar 1771 in St.James, Trowbridge.

Her parents may have been Edward CROWTER and Elizabeth LITTLE, who are believed to have married in St.James, Trowbridge on 8 Sep 1765 (IGI).

Interesting that you have the name of Moore in Chippenham, wiltshire. Some family information has just come to me about my Harry Burt who married Sarah Moore 23 October 1800. Harry Burt had two children in his previous marriage with Johannah Matthews, they were Elizabeth Burt born 10 August 1787 and Albin Burt born 24 Februsary 1793 both born in Chippenham Wiltshire, England. do any of these names appear on your family tree?

Annie Mary AMOR of Bromham

Hi

Missing the death information of my gggf's 2nd wife, Annie Mary (or Mary Annie) Amor (nee Yates) who was born in Market Lavington in 1863

She married Andrew Amor (1845-1931) in 1895 and were living at Church Hill, Bromham in the 1911 Census

Andrew died 4 Aug 1931 aged 86 years at Loop Hill, Bromham

I'm very aware of the amount of Amors in the Bromham area and have visited several times but the death of Annie Mary still eludes me

The churchyard there was so overgrown in parts that it was impossible to get to some graves to read them

If anyone has info it would be much appreciated

It is cripplestyle near Cranborne, not Crisslestile. It is sometimes put into Daggons or Upper Holwell depending on the census or time. It is a small hamlet about 3 miles from Cranborne going towards Damerham.

BURT and PARSONS families in West Dean

Two sets of my ggg-grandparents were from West Dean, Wiltshire.

Thomas Parsons, son of Thomas Parsons and Elizabeth Sinnott, and Charlotte Paine, parents unknown, married in West Dean on 15 October 1791.

George Burt and Sarah Cheater, parents of both unknown, married in West Dean on 19 February 1787. I believe that George is the George Burt born in East Dean, Hampshire, in 1762 to George Burt and Mary Terry, but I can't confirm that.

Does anyone recognize these people?

Hi: Thanks for the reply to my post on Underwoods of Potterne. All I have is that my Grandmother was Annie Underwood from Potterne, we have calculated her death at around 1941. Her Father was a *Pork Butcher* in Potterne and I have his name as George Underwood. I am completely lost on this part of my family as both Grandparents were deceased before I was born, and my Father died at age 45 when I was 14. So do not have anyone left to get information from.

Hope we are somehow related !!!

John FORD - Martin, Wilts 1841/1851 census?

I have a newly discovered FORD family connection from Martin, Wiltshire UK. My GGGmother was a Jane FORD, daughter of John FORD and Harriet THAINE who were married in Martin on 20 Dec 1825 (IGI). Jane had two sisters - Sarah and Ann, and a brother Edmund. Unfortunatley that is as far as I have found - I do not know anything about John or Harriet's families.
From the 1861 census, John was born in 1798, widowed and a farmer with 81 acres living in East Martin.
If anyone has access to the 1851 or 1841 censuses I would really appreciate more information on this family.

Thanks for coming back to me. To be truthful I can't remember, this (family research) is something that I do from time to time or when a new 'lead' or new information comes up. I'm pretty sure via the IGI though. The Wiltshire FHS site also had several John Coles, one of which was born 1772 who seemed to fit.

I can't remember finding any evidence of Maria Lawes though, anywhere !

If John married at 28 (or 30/31 if 1772 is correct) it's possible that Maria was younger. The males seem to have a history of marrying women 10 or so years younger than they are !

Anyway, any info that you are able to offer is gratefully received.

information of William Welch birth certificate states Welch born in Mere Wiltshire 1853, Marriage certificate states Herridge He married a Sarah jane Horrell in Mere1876. His parents are William and Mary Ann Welch nee Herridge, they also produce 3 other children Ann born approx 1875, Elizabeth approx 1877 and Henry 1880. they Move to Hartlepool Durham in late 1890 and revertd back to Welch.

I have a Sarah Plank, daughter of william and Mary Plank. Sarah was born Marden Wiltshire about 1831. Other children of William and Mary were :- John, Maria, Ann, George,and William. William senior was born about 1797. Any connection?

Hello there,

I have just discovered your post and can help on the Thaines. Your Harriet Thaine was a sister of an ancestor of mine, Mary Thaine. They (and a third sister Sarah) were children of Simon Thaine, a yeoman of Martin in Wiltshire. He left a will in 1828 and I have transcribed it and it will be on my website under 'Wareham family tree' by teh end of today (see under T for Thaine).

I have only just diecovered this Thaine line myself and am still gathering information but the Thaines seem to have been in Martin going back to at least 1690.

LOCAL LOOK UP HELP NEEDED PLEASE ** MELKSHAM DISTRICT RECORDS ** Margaret Rhoda I Dobson (b.1908 Melksham) married in 1928 (1st Quarter, Melksham district Vol: 5a, Page: 161) to Frederick John Bigwood. **** I would be very grateful if anyone could look up the marriage record and tell me the NAMES OF THEIR FATHERS and any other info available such as siblings etc.... I believe that Frederick's father was Frederick William John Bigwood who was my partners Gt-Gt-GF, but I do not have any ideas of who Margaret's parents were.
