Hi there Russel,
The 1851 Census for Bewdley has a Joseph Cooke aged 27 ( meaning he was born in 1824). At that time he did not appear to be married, but lived at home with his father Joseph (aged 61) and mother Sarah (aged 59). Junior was then a comb maker, and senior was a Beer House Keeper. If you can confirm this connection, then you can go back another generation.
