How to investigate prior to 1840
Hi there,
I've managed to trace my paternal line up to a Thomas Newman, b1780 Worcestershire, d1870 Lambeth. I'm pretty sure of the information I have. I have managed to find details of marriage using the pallots index. That's fine.
However, how can you investigate prior to the 1841 census with any kind of accuracy? Online at least, the only details there are are of slave trading.
Are there "hard copies" of the 1831 census etc that are available?
