A small piece of info. I have just got my grandparents marriage cert from 1930 (Ernest Albert Beddall and Winifred Williams). One of the witnesses is H Organ (my father remembers the family from when he was young - he was born 1931). The marriage was in Birmingham South and my grandparents came from Smethwich so I suspect H Organ is a member of your family.

We are directecly related . John Hill was my great Grandfather. My Grandfather was Charles Edward Hill. I am interested in the boat building as I did not know that is what they did. St michael in Beddwardine was a church built next door to the Cathedral. There's a roundabout opposite the cathedral nowadays, underneath which lie it's remains. It was demolished as part of the uglification of the city in 1965

I believe part of my family tree descends from Obedience Hampson descended from Sarah Slater married to Richard Hampson on 12 Oct. 1778. Do you have any more information on Richard or Sarah. I have seen a post claiming Sarah is the daughter Thomas and Mary Slater b 24/3/1750/51, but this would put her at over 50 when her last child was born. I have aslo seen a Sarah Slater b 22/2/1760 in Harborne d Wale (Will?) and Jane Slater

Hi Peggy, thanks for doing this for me. Unfortunately this does not appear to be my family. As best as I can ascertain, George Pitt was born c. 1824 and married a Mary Ann Ward. Their eldest son, my g. grandfather, was born 1849 and there was another son John born c. 1851 and a daughter Ann Marie born c. 1853.

Hi Peggy,Thanks very much for replying.I have William and Nancy and I had the marriages of Annie passed to me but have no marriage proof for Annie .Annie Woodall married Thomas Wilson abt.1880 and then they lived in Birmingham.When Thomas died she remarried To John Harrison.Ithink there may be a Methodist connection so perhaps the records are not available yet.I think I will send for a birth cert. which will prove the parent's ,Thanks again Geoff.

Hello Nigel, i have been looking into the steward tree, my family came from Cleobury in shropshire.
The first name i have is George Steward b 1794 m Mary (surname unknown). They had 5 children:
John b 1816 Tom b 1823 Sarah b 1830
Eliza b 1833 and Benjiman b 1838 who married Elizabeth b 1825 Benjiman & Elizabeth are my gg grandparents.

No I do not understand why either. I have checked the actual birth indexes for Sep & Dec Q 1894 and the only Tedstone listed is a Lydia born at Kingston.
Is her mother not listed on the birth certificate?

One quick question: What is the IGI? I'm reasonably new to all this and haven't come across that abbreviation yet.

I have my grandmother's marriage certificate with her fathers name and occupation. I cannot find any trace of her birth records. She was Jessie Tedstone born 1894, I was told she was born in Halesowen, but not certain. Her father Thomas Fredrick Tedstone born 1876, groom/domestic, born in Bromsgrove. I don't know who her mother was, and can't trace her father, exactly. She moved from Birmingham to Accrington, Lancs in her teens to live with Jennie Hall (nee Bradford) who she called mother, and my mother called her Grandma, if she was illigitimate how can I find out.

There a 2 nearly identical 1841 England Censuses for 2 different Ben Raybould. One Benjamin has Rosetta Rolinson for his Mother and John Raybould for a Father. However, my Ben Raybould is NOT a son of of these two. My Benjamin married Maria Handley spring qtr 1845 at St Mary's in Kingwinford.
Does Anyone have a clue who his parents were?
My best guess is Thomas and Mary from Regis Rowley, but I'm not sure... I apppreciate any advice. Mike

Maria Whitehouse later married Benjamin Boot fall qtr 1848 at St Edmunds in Dudley.
Does Anyone know who the Mother of Maria Amos Is?
Her Father is John Amos and a possible Mother might be a
'Margery' but I do not have Mother's maiden name or confirmation that Margery is the right Mother.

Geoffrey Manning married Maureen Commander
Cannot find any descendants for the other 2.
You can contact Mandy Manning on Friends reunited she went to school in Catshill which would fit in with the Bromgrove births.

Hi Peggy,Thanks for your reply.I managed to find the marriage on Ancestry and will send for the certificate.I think Samuel my be the son of John Woodall c1815 and Rebecca Rusell.The name Russell did not appear on any census but did on their grandson Thomas's marriage cert.,his father was John Russell Woodall who may be the brother of Samuel who married Tryphosa.John and Rebecca Woodall did have a son Samuel born abt.1853 who is not at home on the census but living with his uncle Samuel Russell.That is why I think Samuel may have Russell in his name .Of course he may have Robert or something else for a middle name.

I have looked at all the censuses and the GRO index and the 'R' in his name does not appear anywhere until the 1901 census.

The only Woodall & Russell marriage I can find was in 1837 a bit early I thought.
