Dear Tecwyn,
Thank you for your very interesting reply. I think at 1833, you, your brother and your cousins probably do have the oldest grandparent in Britain. And if not, if somebody beats it, you (and your relatives) will still eventually become the oldest because you are still quite young. Compared to my father, you will have 3 much younger grandparents than him, but one, William Savage, an exceptional grandparent much much older than your other three. In effect, your grandfather William has skipped two generations by starting a second family after the age of 65!, which is unusual.
At 88, my father is a generation older than yourself. His father was born in 1871 and my father's four grandparents were born in 1837, 1843, 1849, and 1851. The only challenge I could possibly make is that the grandparent aggregate (calculated by adding the four grandparent birth years and dividing by four)will be somewhat earlier than yours at 1845.
Thank you again for your reply. It's a fascinating and quite extraordinary story and let's see if any other member can beat your 1833!
With my best regards,
David Woodcock
