Hi Ciaran
Its even longer than 4 years since you posted your response. I'd be interested to know where in Mayo Charles Diamond settled, and what family he may have had if this is known. Also, do you know anything about what happened to Barney Diamond who seems to have been part of the forced migration from Ulster at end 1700s.
My Diamond family are from Calliaghadoo, Moygownagh. There were/are also Diamond's in the Crossmolina and Ballina areas, some of whom I can identify as related to Calliaghadoo, others I guess could have some links way back - depending on when and how individuals and/or groups of people left Derry or other parts of Ulster. I've seen the name spelled both Dimond and Diamond -even in the same family. Sometimes it's probably down to those recording the name as to how they see it spelled, rather than the individual's views.
