Seeking information on Joseph and his family. Joseph was born approx 1799 in Cleenish father believed to be Stephen and mother Bridget. Joseph married Eliza Storey, father William and mother Suzzannah. Joseph and Eliza had six children all born in Cleenish we believe, names Sarah, Henry, William, Joseph, Susan Jane and Stephen.
Joseph and Eliza and six children emigrated to Australia in 1852.
Any information as to dates of birth and other family details will be greatly appreciated.

I can't give you any personal information about this family but point you in a few directions to find the parish from which they came so if you want to find the parish records you can. I checked British Telephone and found that there is only one Slack living in Fermanagh at this time. R.A. Slack, 36 Tonnagh Rd. Derrygomelly, Enniskillen BT93 6LR and just 1 Storey in Enniskillen. Most bmd records don't start till 1864 and the Civil Registrations long past the dates you need.

The records for Fermanagh bmd are difficult to find on line and I had a difficult time even finding a few 1)Susan Slack born 1789 died in 1866 Dublin S. Registration District. 2) Henry Slack died 1868 at age 79 est of birth 1789, Irvinestown, Fermanagh/Tyrone Registration District 101584 vol.17 Pg.105
I found thess on the Latter Day Saints www.familysearch.org
PILOT found under 'search records' top left. You find the microfilm numbers by clicking on the underlined names.
You take microfilm numbers to your nearest LDS History Center to view film, phone first. Keep this program as open as possible although it gives the options for specifics, just go with first and last name and county and if no records, then go with just Ireland and pick out the Fermanagh, it is still have glitches since it came on line this year.
One of earliest complete census substitute are the Tithe Records for Ireland. 1824-1838: These are on the website
www.censusfinder.com United Kingdom+Ireland+Fermanagh
which also has some early parish records, tithe's, voters lists etc.

Hi
Joseph Snr was my great-great-grandfather.His son was Joseph Jnr.The family all came to Inverell,NSW and pretty much settled there (I was born there and I'm 35 today).most of his sons were excellent drovers. Joseph Jnr (my great grandfather) married a Wyndham - Catherine. Her mother was Mary Ann Wyndham, daughter of George Wyndham who has a 'distinguished' line in Aus. Anyway I have all my family history and am glad to hear if you have any interest.Susan married William Uruquhart(1906), Sarah married Thomas Carroll. My dad Algie (Joseph Jnr's grandson)was a lot older than my mum and served in WW2 although he didn't have to (over 35), but volunteered and was injured twice seriously. He died when I was 7. Have you ever heard of 'Records of the Slacke Family in Ireland'? I could email it if you don't have. Would be good to hear back.

Dear Hannah, thank you so much for your reply.
My connection with the Slack family is via my wifes mother who was the daughter of George Ashford Slack the grandson of Joseph Slack. I have some information on Joseph and his decendants but would like more. I found the book "World of Its Own" by Elizabeth Wiedeman has info on Joseph. I am very happy to share my information with you, my email address is
mervburley@hotmail.com
I have not heard of the "Records of the Slack Family of Ireland" and would appreciate any info you can provide.
Look forward to hearing from you
Kind regards
Merv
