Looking for descendants of Susan Mc Gurren b 6 Jan 1884, Mary Anne Mc Gurren b 18 Feb 1885, and Sarah Jane Mc Gurrren b 20 Jan 1889. All born in Cabragh, Trillick County Tyrone to James Mc Gurren and Alice Campbell. All were still living in Cabragh with their mother Alice at the time of the 1901 census. They are some of the siblings of my paternal grandfather. Any assistance would be most greatly appreciated.

I found there are still 4 McGurren's living in Trillick Co. Tyrone according to: www.thephonebook.bt.com

I was unable to locate a number of records that should of been easy to find due to the years you are looking for, some are Tyrone and some are Fermanagh, civil registration district covered the two counties which may explain that

The spelling also was difficult and the Latter Day Saints CD program I used just kept telling me to check the spelling.

www.familysearch.org and new PILOT program found on top left of main page under 'search records' drop down menu, click PILOT.

These microfilm numbers can be taken to any Latter Day Saints History Center to view the film. Location of one near you is on the main page, phone first, each is different.

For anything after 1864 a certified copy can be found at the General Registry Office, I only know Dublin but the public records office in Belfast PRONI is probably the place to get the certificates.

On two bmd website databases under Co. Fermanagh the years for these births of McGurren range from 1872-1914 and again the same exact births in Co. Tyrone which again is probably the joint Civil District. On the other bmd index data base, only gave Co. Fermanagh. No James. Alice Campbell there were two in 1864, it is possible this could be 1 birth and 1 baptism rather than two Alice's. You can contact me for these websites if you wish codeannette@yahoo.ca

Susan McGurren 1884 Co. Fermanagh; Mary Anne 1885 Co. Fermanagh; Sarah Jane McGurren 1889, Co. Fermanagh.

Unable to find a birth date for James I would guesstimate 1862, just before Civil Registration.

The www.nationalarchives.ie has most 1911 Census now digitized, but I haven't been able to get it, probably because it is a weekend.

Hi Annette

Thanks very much for taking the time and trouble to respond to my request for help in such detail. Since posting my message I have manged to obtain a copy of the 1911 census for Alice Campbell Mc Gurrin and her children. It was difficult as, unusually, it was written in the irish language. In that census Susan ans Sarah Jane have left home, Mary Ann is still there. I have also requested a copy of the marriage certificate you highlighted for Susan in 1915 as well as one I found for Mary. They will tell me whether or not I am on the right track.

I had one visit to a Latter Day Saints History Center a couple of months ago but was really not properly prepared and so did not make the best of it. Another trip is planned shortly. I also took a run up to Trillick when in Sligo on holiday recently and located, with help, the gravestone of some of the siblings of Susan, Mary Ann and Sarah Jane in the old cemmetry in Maugheralough. Namely Kathleen, John, Henry and Celia. The missing sibling was my grandfather Francis Mc Gurren and he died in Glasgow in 1945. The search continues!

Thanks again for all your help.

Frank
