I am looking for information on my GGGrandparents Michael John Scannell and Catherine Murphy Scannell O'Neil. Family information indicates that this Scannell Family came from the area of 30 miles West of Cork and about 30 miles east of Killarney - located between the Blackwater River and the River Lee. Does anyone know what location this would be? Another Family Source indicates that one of their Children was born in Tralee. Michael John Scannell was born abt 1803. Catherine was born abt 1807. Family stories indicates that there were two Scannell Brothers that married Murphy Girls. One of Michael's Brothers was Joseph Scannell. Catherine had twin brothers by the name of Martin & Maurice. Michael John's and Catherine's children were: Timothy, John, Catherine, Maurice, Maurice, Margaret, Michael and Bridget. All born in Ireland. This family immigrated to the US and settled in NY>IL>WI>NB. Family info indicates that the Scannell's had friends and relatives by the surnames of O'Neill, Sullivan and Bara. Catherine Murphy Scannell was related to the O'Brien's of County Limerick
