Catherine Cody was a godparent to John CURTIS, son of Patrick Curtis and Catherine Brennan. John was baptised in Kilfarney on 14-Nov-1843.
His brother, James, and his wife, Mary Stapleton, accompanied three other couples from the area of Kilfarney, Johnstown and Tullabrin to Portland in October 1853. One of these couples was Brennan from the same area in Kilkenny so is most likely James Curtis' cousin. The other couples settled in Warrenheip/Buninyong. James and Mary Curtis settled in Richmond.
Edmond Cody was a godparent to the eldest son of Patrick Butler and Bridget Cahill, in 1857 at St. Alipius Catholic Church, East Ballarat. When Patrick died Edmond's widow, Mary Curtis, was surety for Bridget for probate on Patrick's estate. Her total wealth at the time was estimated to be 300 pounds.
