"Although my family was in Lanark, there is always a chance for a connection.
Noticed the HOOD surname and thought I would mention my family's HOOD connection. Two of my gr grandfather's sisters married McEWAN brothers, b. in Ireland and their mother's maiden name was HOOD.
Jane CRANE m. John McEWAN, 9 Apr 1869 in Cambuslang {living in Bothwell, Castle Pits with 4 children in the 81 Census}.
Helen CRANE m. Patrick McEWAN, 7 Mar 1873 in Cambuslang
A brother, William McEWAN, age 18, died January 31, 1871 at Newton Colliery, Cambuslang, of Small Pox. His parents listed on the Death Certificate were
Thomas McEWAN, coal miner and Mary HOOD McEWAN {deceased}.
I found the marriage of Thomas McEWAN and Mary HOOD on the IGI online.
Marriage: 27 Aug 1846
0435, Cappagh Parish, Tyrone, Ireland"
