I would like to know the inmediate family of Felipe and I was told that the surname "Bernal" comes from the Canary Islands.

Felipe Ramirez Bernal married his first wife and had three siblings. One was called Carmen Ramirez (a.k.a. La Prieta) and two sons. Then, he married his second wife and had 5 siblings: Francisco (worked as a policeman in San Juan metro), David, Jenaro (Policeman SGT, he died in San German I believed in 1987), Carmen and Crucita. Then, after his 2nd wife died, he married my grandmother, Basilisa Matos Libran and had three siblings: Carmen (yes, the 3rd Carmen), Hortencia & Ramon (a.k.a. Moncho, my father).

Since your research isn't into the 1800s yet in your message, it is difficult for specifics. In Estela Cifre de Loubriel's book, "La formacion del pueblo puertorriquena. La contribucion de los isleno Canarios" there are 9 entries under the Bernal surname.Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.

I forgot to mention that Felipe might have born in 1889 and died in 1959, because my father was 9 yrs old when he died and probably was buried in San Juan. His older sons may have move to San Juan and the others might have remain in the areas of Cabo Rojo, San German, Mayaguez.

Agustin Bernal, Domingo Bernal & Victoriano Bernal Bernar all went to PR in 1859. The others have later dates. If and when you're interested, let me know and I send you the pages from the book. This way you can see all the info that's listed for each person.

I think is a wonderful idea to send me copies of the pages from your book. That way I can also investigate further. Thank you very much.

Ely:
I'm still new with sending attachments! I emailed you the title page, 2 pages with the entry abbreviations and 2 pages with the Bernal surname. If you don't receive all 5 pages, let me know and I'll try again!

Do you have more info about the gggrandparents? I go "backwards" when looking for info. Also Nepomuceno is his last name or middle name?

Hi Ely
Thanks for replying. Nepomuceno was a middle name. Juan Nepomuceno & Antonia Maria had some children: Victoria Bernal Negron b.1842 Regina, Ramona & Isidora. They were living in Collores Juana Diaz in the 1900's.
Antonia Maria Negron Villanueva had siblings, Juan Nepomuceno, Tomasa & Bernardino. Welcome any information. I believe they maybe descendant of Agustin Bernal & Antonia Toledo & Agustin Bernal Toledo & Antonia Torres Hernandez de Lares. Happy Holidays, have a great day, Alba
