EMILIA CRUZ VELAZQUEZ Middletown, N.Y. Emilia VELAZQUEZ of Middletown, a former seamstress for Poirette, a corset manufacturing company in Manhattan, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in Middletown Park Manor. She was 85.

The daughter of the late Saturnino and Laureana Donato CRUZ, she was born Aug. 8, 1914, in Ceiba, Puerto Rico.

She was a member of the Methodist Women's Association; Women's Ecumenical Society in New York City; and took part in forming the Temperance League in Puerto Rico.

Survivors include five children, Aida Santana and Jose D. Velazquez, both of the Bronx, Michael of Laurelton, Helda of Newburgh and Laura Velazquez-Lao of Middletown; one sister, Lucia Robles Donato of Puerto Rico; one brother, Marcelino CRUZ of Puerto Rico; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Emily Martir and Jenny Rivera.

Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home. Pastor Ronald Conti and Rev. Rosas will officiate. Interment will be in Wallkill Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

Arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Middletown.
