Kalithea: Where is it? Which one is it?

I am looking for the little village of Kalithea which is supposed to be near Sparta/Sparti. I get 3 different locations when I google the map of Greece for Kalithea. Can anyone point me in the right direction (literally). It is the home village of my husband's great grandfather Peter/Petro Manusopoulos who came to Chicago in 1891.

Hi -

I found this very nice little article that you might be interested in - written by Nicholas Econopouly in 1963 about his trip to Kalithea (near Sparta), where his family came from. He claims it is about 20 miles from Sparta.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your Greek family genealogy research.

Hello Georgia, Thanks so very much for the reference to this article. It is quite interesting, and I hope to be able to verify that this in fact is the Kalithea that I am searching for. My dear mother in law visited about 5 years ago, and was welcomed by long lost cousins who remembered her grandfather. She passed away in 2008, but her companion who traveled with her to the village is still living and I hope to show him this article to see if he recognizes this village. Thank you again for giving me this link, I appreciate your help.
