I would appreciate guidance from anyone that has requested information or records from the Greek Army. Thanks

Hi -

I assume you are looking for historical military records. The LDS Family History Library has a collection of microfilms which include some Greek military records. You can reference my website at http://HellenicGenealogyGeek.com where these records are highlighted with appropriate links.

You can order a copy of any of the microfilms listed through a local Family History Center - for locations reference http://www.familysearch.org -- or ask your local library if they can order for you or advise another library in the area that can help you.

I have personally used some of these - have patience - make sure you can identify the name in Greek.

Good luck with your Greek family genealogy research.

Thanks for the advice. The information I am looking for is for several men that served in the first World War and the subsequent war in Turkey. This would be for the 1917-22 period. They were draftees, not carreer soldiers. I understand that one can write to the Army in Greece to request information regarding former soldiers but I have never heard of anyone that has. This information in the FHL is mostly for the XIX century as far as I can tell.
