The Pictou Advocate, Wednesday, May 11, 1988 - Viola Frances Melanson, 45, 220 James St., New Glasgow, formerly of Barrie, Ont., died Friday, May 6 in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Thomas Kitson and Lorraine (Zwicker) Nugent. She lived in New Glasgow for most of her life, except eight years spent in Barrie. She was an employee of Clark Tire, New Glasgow, and a former employee of Dunlop Lift-Truck Ltd., Barrie. She was a member of Collier Street United Church, and Royal Canadian Legion, Barrie. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Mrs John Cartwright); Shannon, both of Barrie; a son, Jamie, Barrie; a grandchild; five sisters, Mrs Eleanor Talbot, Lourdes; Bonnie (Mrs James Henderson), Westville Road; Karen (Mrs Ross Dugwell), Mrs Heather MacKenzie, both of New Glasgow; Catherine Kitson, Amherst; six brothers, George Kitson, Barrie; Thomas Kitson Jr., Gordon Kitson, both of Mount William; Brian Nugent, Mississauga; Brent Nugent, N.B.; Mike Nugent, Stellarton. The body has been cremated. Memorial service will be held at H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, at a date and time to be announced. No flowers by request of the family. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.
