Death:
James Clapp, 75, b Canada, died 3 Feb 1875, cause-visitation of God, Methodist, Registration # 007284, S Marysburgh, Prince Edward County.
On all the census it gives his place of birth as Canada.

The only James Clapp I can find on census records, 1851,1861 and 1871, gives wife as Jane. He is living in Marysburgh on all of them. Gives birth place as Canada West.
Nothing found on Rachel.

Assessment of township of Hallowell 1808
James Clapp, 85 acres under cultivation, 5 acres uncultivated.

I don't think any of the above is going to help your search.

With the sorry state of the wrting on some census pages it is not surprising. Automated Genealogy lists my father as Fred Kribs in the 1911 census.
Did the other Morley ever marry ?

I didn't realize Morley Clapp was such a common name.
I was referring to Morley Roy Clapp, son of Reuben and Manetta Hawley. He went to Henrietta to visit his uncle in 1926 and evidently stayed there.

Hi Art, Yes Morley Roy Clapp 1904-1988 was my Father. He married Marion Irene Heffernan in 1930 & lived in Henrietta,NY. I have 3 brothers & 2sisters with their familys still living in the area.
I see that Sarah Dies (nee Hubbs) Married in 1906 at age 65, David Emory Clapp 1837-1912. A son of John Henry Clapp.
Well I am still looking source information for James Clapp & Rachel Palmatier..My gg Grand parents....I find it hard to be believe that James Clapp born 1770 in New York brother to the famous "Joseph Clapp the pioneer" is the father of John Henry Clapp born 1939.....
I think James Clapp is of German Descent born in the USA... I.A.W.some of the Canada Census Records for John Henry Clapp.....1871 1881 ??????

Where would I find more information about the German Settlement in Hiller twp. Census of Canada. 1851

Thanks Again,
