Looking for any information on the Welbanks family - Louisa Welbanks was the daughter of William Welbanks and Mary Ann Clark..
Louisa married John Thompson and settled in Denbigh..later remarried to Peter Rose..
Any information pertaining to this family and where they originated from would be great.
They settled in South Marysburgh..Prince Edward County.

Hi Roxanne:

According to "Hastings and Prince edward County Loyalist Families" by Russ Waller, William Welbanks was born abt 1796 in the United States, there is no place of birth given for his brother Thomas b. 1800, so possibly the family moved to Canada around that time. William's parents according to the book were Thomas Welbanks and Margaret Le Rue. It also says that Thomas' father was George, but gives no further information. The book also gives some information on Williams family as well as some of his brothers. Louisa is listed but nothing further is given. I am not a Welbanks descendant but connect to two of William and Mary Ann's children, Stephen and Wyatt, all through Dulmage connections. Let me know if you would like anything further from the book, I might try NY State as a searching point as many of the UELs in that area were from there.

Pioneer Life On The Bay Of Quinte has a chapter on the WELBANKS and the CLARKs. Mary CLARK was the daughter of Paul CLARK and Mehetabel PALEN, two of my ancestors.

Roxanne:
I was surfing the web looking for the name welbanks and didn't find it so I have applied for a Wellbanks/Welbanks message board where we can adress each other. Oddly I found your query on the Harlan Dulmage message board.
My mother was FLORENCE Ethelwyn Wellbanks, Gaughter of EVERETT Hamilton & Fanny Jane (Ostrander) Wellbanks. Everett was the son of Palen wellbanks (Mary Martin). They lived for many years on the County road about half way between Cherry Valley and Milford, Just inside South Marysburgh Twp. I would be delighted if you could help me with more information. Everett and Fanny had only two children and we Dulmages are his only descendants.Mother's sister, Norma (Hyatt) died childless.
Grandfather had a brother Norman who went to live in San Louis Obispo ,CA (spelling ?) when he was young. He had two daughters ,Bessie Delasagus and Clara Erskine (wife of Victor Erskine). Clara lived in the Detroit area. There may have been a son in California.
I have Everett and Fanny's marriage certificate which spells the name with two L's .That's why I have spelled it that way, but I'm not sure whether or not it is correct

Hello David,

I personally have only gotten back to 1835 in the Fetherston lineage.

My understanding is that we came from Scotland, I am finding out though that the Fetherstons are all related throughout Ireland, Scotland and even into England.

I am real interested in finding out more and eventually will. my time is limited however in my ability to do the research.

I would be happy to share all of the information that I have with you though.

Connect anytime and I will respond
Thanks,
Allan Fetherston
