Have you accessed <www.familysearch.org>; and the various searches at the site there. I have an ancestor, Elizabeth Snider Boice/Boyce, a d/o Johann Jost & M.Vleglar Snider and many Snider's went to Upper Canada as UE Loyalists from Dutchess, NY, or as settlers after the American Revolution, your family name is probably connected with mine. Have you posted to the <www.genforum.com>; board, or checked that board, if not for Snider info, then for Snider researchers who may have info. Have you checked the 1851 census', church records from that area? The Ontario Gen'l. Society has a web page that may be worthwhile for info.
You might also access the familysearch website's "family history catalog" for records on film that you can access at a FHL near you (location info also at this site). I am not near my paper files so will e-mail any "contacts" that I have corresponded with concerning Snider names.

Thanks! I have a great deal of early information on the Sniders - going back to the 1550's in Prussia.\
Yes, the Johannes Jost Snider was indeed a Loyalist and came from Dutchess, NY.
I have the 1851 census for the Canadian area Wilson and his father and mother lived in. And Wilson is living with his parents then at the age of 23 but.....that does not prove his birth to George and Lovina Snider. I have accessed most websites here in Canada and have enquired from the Archives in Toronto, and Kingston and The Ontario Genealogical Society (waiting to hear from them). This little bit of information is sitting somewhere; just waiting to be found.

I also looked for a Johann Jost and M. Vieglar Snider in my info on Snider and do not have them listed. I am sure that is an American Snider family, of which I have not done any research. I am researching the Canadian Sniders.

Surnames: Snider, Hartman, Smith, Palmer, Quackenbush
Do you have anything on James Snider, son of Henry Snider & Catherine Quackenbush? He married Rosanna Palmer of my Palmer line on 2 June 1837 in Prince Edward Co., ON. I have names of 5 children but no further details. Have James as 'of Amesliasburgh' and Rosanna came from Hillier, both in PECo.

I also have an Edward D. Snider b. 1851, son of Valentine Snider & Mary Ann Hartmann m. 19 Feb 1873, Napanee, ON to Emma or Emily Hartman, d/o of Lawrence Hartman & Zilpha Smith.

Any help with details or descendant information of these Snider would be helpful.

If you will go to family trees at this site you will find almost anything you need to know about these Snyder or Snider families.- names spelled both ways and Schneider. Try Snider as that was the most common spelling on our line
