In A. C. Bowerman's treatise on the "
Bowerman Family of Ontario Canada" as transcribed by Lorne
Shunk, A. C. states that
Levi and
Cornelius, both sons of David, b. 1755 (who lived in PE Co. and was son of
Ichabod) resided in
Ohio and that
Cornelius lived in Auburn
Ohio. David also had another son named Benoni, b. abt. 1782. Benoni married Rebecca Hill in 1808 and had issue. Their third son was Thomas, b. 1818. Records recently uncovered show that Thomas was born in
Ohio. This would lead one to believe that Benoni and his family were living in
Ohio at that time. If this is true, then in all probability they were living with or near his brothers,
Levi and
Cornelius.
I am looking for information regarding any of the suppositions, facts and individuals shown above. For instance, there are two towns in
Ohio named Auburn. Which is the one that
Cornelius lived in? Does anyone have access to any
Ohio records that would substantiate the birth of Thomas. Does anyone have any records that show any of the above as land owners in
Ohio? Is there anybody out there today, looking at this message, who is a descendent of any of those shown above or knows someone who is?
I you have the answers to any of these questions or any information leading to the answers, give me a reply on this forum, please. Or, if you have any thoughts or questions regarding this bit of
Bowerman history, please take the time to expound on them.
