I am interested in the following Macdonald Family: Daniel Macdonald & wife Catherine came to Hallowell in the late 1820's or early 1830's from New Brunswick. Robert, born Nov 11, 1831 md Sarah abt 1857. Walter, son of Robert & Sarah, born in 1866, md Susan Matilda Trumpour in Dec 19, 1888. Rosswell Claire, son of Walter & Susan "Susie", born Oct 28, 1889. Edna L, born Mar 1, 1891 was also dau of Walter & Susie. I will appreciate any information on these Macdonalds and the surnames of Catherine & Sarah. Also, where in New Brunswick did Daniel come from?

I may have some info for you on the New Brunswick McDonalds. My gr gr gr grandfather was Francis McDonald ( possibly married to Nancy Greer) who was from Queens Co. New Brunswick. The Gagetown Anglican Church baptism records list the children of David and Hannah (possibly Lefurgey) McDonald of Grand Lake, N.B.

Daniel, Francis, Hannah, Henry and John were baptised 17 Feb. 1794 and William 29 Feb. 1796.

It appears that a number of the McDonald children migrated to Prince Edward County in the early 1800's and are closely linked to the Branscombe family who also migrated from Queens Co. N.B.

David McDonald is listed in "Loyalists of New Brunswick" by Esther Clark Wright.

I will try again. The reply cut me off and didn't print the rest. I then decided to do an email but the <ruth11@telus.net> they couldn't deliver saying no telus.net was found. If you receive this, could you email me with your correct address. What they didn't print out or send was: Since Henry & John were born in the early 1800's they could still be considered. My reason is that Daniel & Catherine's son, Robert, was born in Ontario (I would assume Hallowell, Prince Edward Co.) in 1831. They just list Ontario as place of birth. Do you have the info on the Lefurgey's that you can share? How do they fit in with the McDonald's? Also, you mention the Branscombe family. How do they relate to families in Prince Edward Co? I really appreciate your answering and, hopefully, enriching and expanding both our family research.

I am married to a macdonald, his family is the francis line and i have a copy of the births and marriages of prince edward county for 1869-1879 and francis is in there with his wife arlinda thomas with son maly mcdonald but i also have family knowledge saying that francis and nancy greer son is greer mcdonald so maybe francis was married twice ,is my family the same as yours please let me know thank you

Great to hear from you. I think the Francis you are following seems to be of a later generation.

Francis McDonald b. 1793 Grand Lake, Queens Co. N.B. and Nancy Greer were the parents of my gr gr grandfather Greer McDonald. Francis died in 1862. Francis was the son of David and Hannah McDonald, a loyalist who went to New Brunswick.

Francis along with other siblings went to Ontario at a young age.

Quite possibly your Francis is a later generation. Possibly descended from a sibling of Greer's or the son of Greer.

Unfortunately I don't have the names of any other children for Francis and Nancy.

Greer McDonald married Elizabeth Bedal and so far I have the following children.
Albert b. 1849
Frederick b. 1861
Herbert b. 1868

not all my info is of reliable source tho. I can give you more information if you want to contact me off list.
