Hi, cousin! Edward and his wife, Elizabeth
Dixon or
Dickerson, were supposedly born in
England. Lee Ann,a fellow researcher, reports that she has an ELMIN line in
Suffolk,
England. She searched the Hoxne,
Suffolk,
Parish Records from 1548-1800 for ELMIN. She found that in the 1690s there were two ELMIN brothers in Hoxne, Robert and Thomas. Robert changed his name to ELWIN and Thomas to
ELVIN. There was even a note in the records for a child of Robert (who went to ELMIN), to see the previous child of the marriage who is spelled
ELVIN. After this occurrence, Robert and his "ELWIN" family vanished from Hoxne and Thomas and his
ELVIN family remained. There was no further occurrence of ELMIN after that , but a big line of Elvin's remained. A line of ELWIN's reappeared around 1795 (100 years later) for some reason. She transcribed the baptismal, marriages and burial records and they are available for everyone via her
Suffolk Surname Interest List at http://
www.visualcreations.com /pers /leeann /suffolk /parish.html. Her line is George
