Hi...I just got your message and thank you for writing. The Castelazos are not my family but I was looking up info from my dear friend Carlos..who passed away about 3 yeaers ago. He was 90 something and still working! He comes from the Glennie-Castelazo line. In the early 1800s 2 Glennie brothers came from Scotland to work as silver engineers in the mines. One of them climbed and charted Mt. Popo for the owners of the mine and he is famous as the first European to do so. He met and married a young native girl whose family originated from Castelazo Italy...she was half Italian and half local Indian....and the rest is history. I've "met" other relatives of Don Carlos online and was able to explain everything to him before he died. His father was a high ranking senator of Guanajuato (the equivalent to vice pres of Mexico at the time) in the early 1900s and he was ambassador to Spain and the family shows on the ships manafest coming back thru Ellis Island after a trip! While Carlos' father was senator, the family lived in Los Angeles California and he commutted! Write me again with what you know.

Hello again,
It´s a pity I didn´t saw the message before, although I have been doing genealogical research only for a few months, and this is what I know, also because of the post above, let me translate it, is from a woman that claims to be descendent of Juan Bautista Castelazo, one of their sons married a Josefina Glennie I think her branch is the one you´re looking for, I descent also from Juan Bautista but from a daughter.
Let me tell you what I have reseach of Juan Bautista Castelazo,
His father is Jose Rodrigo Castelazo "spanish" born in Tlalpujahua Michoacan (by spanish they use to say of the spanish descendants so they are not mix with another blod)and her mother Rita Díaz Sustaeta"spanish" born in México City .
Juan Bautista was born in Mineral del Monte (tlalpujahua, mineral del monte and Guanajuato were mining places)he married Asunción Alaman, descendant of the Marques de Rayas (Jose Mariano Sardaneta Rivera LLorente), owner of "the rayas" mine, one of the richest of the New Spain (that is another very interesting history),
Juan Bautista was also provisional governor of Guanajuato during the revolution, after that he was sent as a Consul of México in France and that´s all I know about him.....
I have to do more research on the Castelazo´s branch, I´ll let you know as soon as I have more reliable data.
The birth information I got it from the matrimonial information of Juan Bautista.
I seems that my history ist´s quite different to yours, althought is the same person.......

Yes! Now I remember...Juan Bautista Castelazo IS Carlos' father! He was the ambassador to France and was there with his 2 sons, Carlos and ?...and they got into LOTS of trouble as children with their pranks! I'm not sure if my email shows but I will check this out later...I am on my way to meet a friend for dinner in a few minutes! I miss my friend Carlos! Do you know about the Castelazo family reunion or convention that happens every few years? It's a big deal and he wanted me to go to one...but died before that could happen. Later Chica! Gracias por la informacion!

good you remember..
but I think it was his grandfather, because one of my father´s ants just die about 3 years ago, and she was 103 years old! and Juan Bautista was her grand father.

"La convención Castelazo" was last year, let me see if I have the info, I couldn´t go, but if I find the mail I´ll send it to your hotmail acount so you can have an idea of what we are talking about.

Nice to meet you
