I have some limited knowledge on that, I went to school with the great, great grand kids in the City of Calvillo. Back in the mid to late 1970s I was in grade school with this girl by the name of Veronica Calvillo, direct descendant. I know that the family was heavily involved with the clergy of the city, everyone in the family had been altar boys (girls)and deacons as it would be the case. Am sure if you tap into the Church's records for the city you will be able to get plenty of information on them.

Good luck with that.

These are all very common names from some of the oldest Spanish families in the Totatiche area. I am sure that we are related in multiple ways.

Records in Totatiche are very well preserved, all filmed, and mostly indexed in LDS databases. If you are serious about finding your ancestry, I would suggest you compile the information that you have and apply for an account at:

http://www.nuestrosranchos.com

where you will find many cousins who have researched these families and many researchers who can help guide you through the resources available.

Hola,
Saludos
Patty Haro

Hi again. I am positive it was his father but because he had so many children, the younger ones (Carlos and a brother) were probably closer in age to their neices and nephews (more like brothers and sisters). One of the stories he told was when they got to Spain, he and his brother went out exploring and saw beggars getting tourists and residents to give them money on a street corner....They tried it and were successful, coming home with LOTS of money! Their parents were moritfied and I'm sure were severly punished! He told me about growing up in Los Angeles in the early 1900s with a huge home that was the scene of weekly parties attended by local teenagers and hosted by his mother who got everyone to dance and cooked lots of food...They were a very close family and he adored them. my email is jafrank 49 at hotmail dot com.

He was the ambassador to France and was there with his 2 sons, Carlos and ?...and they got into LOTS of trouble as children with their pranks! I'm not sure if my email shows but I will check this out later...I am on my way to meet a friend for dinner in a few minutes! I miss my friend Carlos! Do you know about the Castelazo family reunion or convention that happens every few years? It's a big deal and he wanted me to go to one...but died before that could happen. Later Chica!
Hello again,
It´s a pity I didn´t saw the message before, although I have been doing genealogical research only for a few months, and this is what I know, also because of the post above, let me translate it, is from a woman that claims to be descendent of Juan Bautista Castelazo, one of their sons married a Josefina Glennie I think her branch is the one you´re looking for, I descent also from Juan Bautista but from a daughter.
Let me tell you what I have reseach of Juan Bautista Castelazo,
His father is Jose Rodrigo Castelazo "spanish" born in Tlalpujahua Michoacan (by spanish they use to say of the spanish descendants so they are not mix with another blod)and her mother Rita Díaz Sustaeta"spanish" born in México City .
Juan Bautista was born in Mineral del Monte (tlalpujahua, mineral del monte and Guanajuato were mining places)he married Asunción Alaman, descendant of the Marques de Rayas (Jose Mariano Sardaneta Rivera LLorente), owner of "the rayas" mine, one of the richest of the New Spain (that is another very interesting history),
Juan Bautista was also provisional governor of Guanajuato during the revolution, after that he was sent as a Consul of México in France and that´s all I know about him.....
I have to do more research on the Castelazo´s branch, I´ll let you know as soon as I have more reliable data.
The birth information I got it from the matrimonial information of Juan Bautista.
I seems that my history ist´s quite different to yours, althought is the same person.......

Hi...I just got your message and thank you for writing. The Castelazos are not my family but I was looking up info from my dear friend Carlos..who passed away about 3 yeaers ago. He was 90 something and still working! He comes from the Glennie-Castelazo line. In the early 1800s 2 Glennie brothers came from Scotland to work as silver engineers in the mines. One of them climbed and charted Mt. Popo for the owners of the mine and he is famous as the first European to do so. He met and married a young native girl whose family originated from Castelazo Italy...she was half Italian and half local Indian....and the rest is history. I've "met" other relatives of Don Carlos online and was able to explain everything to him before he died. His father was a high ranking senator of Guanajuato (the equivalent to vice pres of Mexico at the time) in the early 1900s and he was ambassador to Spain and the family shows on the ships manafest coming back thru Ellis Island after a trip! While Carlos' father was senator, the family lived in Los Angeles California and he commutted! Write me again with what you know.

Do you have information on any Jaime/Jayme family from the 1800's? I am the great granddaughter of Ma. Sabina Jaime m. Narciso Mora. Her parents were listed as Lasaro Nunez & Theresa Lopez and Refugio Jaime and Donaciana Pedroza. My family is from the Aguascalientes and Encarnacion de Diaz area of Mexico and in the early 1900's emigrated to California. Any information you can share would be much appreciated.

Your original post was so long ago, but I hope you still check here once in a while. My great grandmother was Ma. Sabina Jaime born around 1868 in Aguascalientes. I am confused as to who her parents were. An old family tree lists her parents as Lasaro Nunez (Muniz on one database)and Teresa Lopez but raised by Donaciana Pedroza and Refugio Jaime. I was told that these may have been her Godparents and traditionally one would take their name. I would appreciate any information that would help. Also, who do I then research? Do I follow the blood line or do i follow the name?

Hello Sylvia, my name is Peter Tellez and I recently saw your posting about Tomas Navarrete. I have been searching(for many years), for info about my great grandfather Tomas Navarrete. What little background I have is as follows: I think he was born in Coyame, Chihuahua maybe in the middle 1800's. He married a Jesusita Rubio and out of that marriage came, Felipe, Braulio, Zeferino, Bernabe, Pedro, and Senorina, (my grandmother). My grandmother and her sister Bernabe came to the US around 1880, but no idea about the others. I think Tomas got married 2 or 3 times but its just a guess. Anywas if you see any connection here, would you send me a response at ptellez@bellsouth.net

IGI UPDATE FROM FHL

Hi everyone, I wrote to the Family History Library Support people and they gave me a description and update relating to the IGI and the Middle America Vital Records Index. This is important info to consider. When I get more info, I will post it here:
Their Email to me follows:

Hello John:
Middle America Vital Records Index is a collection of names which were extracted and typed into the computer but were never processed for addition to the IGI. Since the Church had these 2 million names in the computer with nothing being done with them, this information is now available for people to obtain and use on their own personal computer. This is a separate file from the IGI and most of the names on the Vital Records are not on the IGI so the value will be to use both data collections.

A new version of the IGI is in beta testing right now but no release date has yet been announced.
I am checking with another department to see any church extractions for Sain Alto, Zacatecas have been done.
