I am looking for the family of my grandmother Francisca Prado Saenz(dob 1903) who crossed over into the U.S.A. from Chihuahua with her father in the mid 1900's. She had her sister were the lone survivors from a smallpox epidemic. Her sister died before coming into the United States. I do not have her father's name, but it's possible that it was Reyes Saenz. Please contact me if you have any information on the Prado or Saenz family.

I found a Franciscz Saenz born 1904/5 Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico crossing the Border with her father, Reyes Saenz born abt 1883 in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico and her mother, Petra Pando(Prado?) born abt 1889 in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico, and her sister, Guadalupe born abt 1914, (same) and her brother Ramon born abt 1909 (same). Her father's physical description says (pox marked face), A Petra Saenz is found in the death records as being born 29 June 1885 Mexico and died May 1970 El Paso, Texas.

Could these be related to your family?

Sandee

Hi Sandee,
Thanks so much for this information. It's quite possible that this is my grandmother's family. I had also found this information, but I couldn't really read the names very clearly. How exciting!

Surnames: Saenz, Portillo & Moriel
My mother's father's family surnmae is Moriel. Originally they were Morel. They also arrived in Mexico from Maximillian's troops. These early Morel and the Portillo families married. The Saenz and Nunez family also married into the Morel/Moriel's & Portillos. The early Morel family are the founders of Santa Barbara, (at the time it was known as La Villa de Santa Barbara) Chihuahua. There are a few Portillos, Nunez, Saenez in Santa Barbara and Valle Allende & Parral. The majority of these families have moved to Texas and California.

Wow! However, my grandmother was indigenous and could not read or write when she first came into the country. Somewhere along the way, her mother must've married a Saenz. It's great to find out this information. I hope to come across one of her relatives.
Thanks,
Linda

I have been searching for my grandmother's family and have had no luck. Her name was Rebecca Anchondo maybe born early or mid 1800. She married Roman Orozco. Lived in New Mex and Douglas Az where they both died. I understand one of her brothers was Gregorio Anchondo, lived somewhere in Los Angeles,Azusa or Balwin Park. My mother's name was Cruz Orozco married name Marquez born in 1900.They were all from Chihuahua Mx, She also had an other brother named Santiago, I think.
I hope you can help me but either way thanks,
cruz

Thank you Sandee. I don't think that this is the right family. My grandmother came into the country with just her father. Her entire family died in Mexico before her father brought her to stay with relatives. I don't think that this is the right person. Thank you anyway!
