In the Family History Center search the Microfiche in the FHLC under Mexico the country. It is divided into three parts.
1. Where to locate the town
2. Everything in general with the state - alpha order
example - Archives, Census, Military ...on and on
3. The towns in Alphbetical order
No Matter where you search throughout the world the system is the same.
The FHLC is the same search on the computer at the Family History Center but condenced.
You can also use the programs - International Genealogical Index to make surname searches at the Family History Center. You can use at home Familysearch.org online - LDS.
I prefer the IGI at the Family History Center because it offers more search example-Birth, Marriage, Parent surname search.
Good Luck

Carreon is the name of a village in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Carreon is also a variant of the Basque name Carrion (see) from "arro"-- Brushwood--and the suffix of abundance "on" and the prothetic C, documented in Segura, Guipuzcoe in 1374.
This is what I found on the surname.

I was wondering how I would be able to purchase any of your books?? Especially the Census book of Chihuahua. I have family from there that I would like to know more about. Also have Carrion relatives from Arizona, but I'm not sure if they came from Chihuahua also!! I just started my research last year. Please reply!
Thanks Miranda

Alicia,
I wish I could help you.

I hope you get the info you need and if you do I hope to see it here. Maybe I (my husband's line) can connect to your line.

In my husband's Carreon line he had great grandparents where the two were surnamed Carreon, which could be French. This great-grandfather was said to be lost through the Indians who took him. His son, my husband's grandfather, was taken by Pancho Villa with the Dorados, and never heard from again.

Please let me know if you run into the surnames of Sigala and Legaretta during your Carreon research-both of which could also be French.

thanks,
martie
