My search is of a family originating in Spain, traveling through Mexico and into Woodsboro, Refugio Co., Texas USA. Celestino Barrientes(z), b. 3 Sep 1892 in Refugio Co., Texas. He married a woman named Rumalda. His parents, according to documents, were Martin Barrientes and Merce Rodriguez, both of which traveled into US from Mexico. Some of Martin's brother are said to have remained in Spain. Martin and Merce(des?) gave birth to their children in Texas. If anyone knows any tidbit of information regarding this family, please contact me. This has been a difficult search.

i am descendant of martin and mercedes(marce) barientes thru santiago their son of which santiago is my great grandfather. martin died about 1932 in refugio county. mercedes i am not clear but my grand uncle bob barrientez who lives in great bend ,kansas said she died when he was very young in texas. ---one thing that struck me was that the message you left was verbatim of what my mother told me but only kept it at the back of my mind because i could not confirm or prove wrong of what she was telling me. however,almost everything she has told me is evidently the truth,especially the part of spain-i guess. my address is 510 w.spruce st.,sisseton,south dakota 57262----pn#605-742-1056. martin and mercedes are enumerated in the 1910 texas (us) of navarro county with six family members. the mormon church's family history centers has marriages deaths of refugio county. my grandmother mercedez was the granddaugter of martin and mercedes barientes. my ggfather santiago was killed in a truck crash in arkansas about 1954. he was seperated from his wife mariana ramirez who remarried twince in kansas. my grand uncle bob barrientez left texas and settled in great bend ,kansas and told me he has 35 grandchildren and that we have many relatives all over kanasa. my grandmother mercedes(2nd) married jose sandoval in bexar,tx-1938-and had kids in michigan where my mother was born and had 15 more kids in minnesota and finally in texas. jose died.and mercedes my grandmother is still alive -79yrs old. the descendants of jose and mercedes number about 70 people-just from one line.
