I am trying to locate my great grandfather's line in Mexico. It has been said that he lived in Guadalajara in the late 1800s with an uncle. His name is Eleodoro Salas

Hi Diane, I read your query on this board. If you have any luck please let me know. I too have ancestry in Guadalajara. My Mom & Dad are both from there & met in Los Angeles.

Good Luck,
Bert

Try FamilySearch.org the mormon site that microfilmed alot of records throughout the world. I was able to track my Alcaraz genealogy as far back as 1687 Zapotlan El Grande, Jalisco. Always use your oldest known relatives name. Or try just the last name and then go by Country. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

LDS library-order film in the state you are looking for family. I have been researching Jalisco in the last year. Also www.familysearch.org on the new piolot site I have found lost of great information. I am searching Becerra, Gomez and looking for Salvador Alcaraz who was married to Jacinta Becerra and had a child named Maria Mercedes Alcaraz in 1917 in Guanajuato. Good luck Mexico is difficult but there is alot more info today online than ever.
