Also www.familysearch.org on the new pilot site I have found lots of great information. I am searching Becerra, Gomez and looking for Salvador Alcaraz who was married to Jacinta Becerra and had a child named Maria Mercedes Alcaraz in 1917 in Guanajuato.
Looking for Marentes relations. My husband's father was Merced Marentes Jauregui who was born in Canadas, Jalisco but lived most of his life in Arizona.

Merced's parents were Cleofas Marentes and Francisca Jauregui from Canadas, Jalisco. They had 6 children - 1)Tiburcio (married to Marcelina Mosquerra), 2)Delores (adopted children named Robles), 3)Isabel (married Eusevio Conterras), 4)Maria (married to Leon), 5)Merced (married Porfiria Escalante) and 6)Jesus (married to Rosario Garibaldi Renteria). The children were born in Canadas, but they all later moved to Novolato, Sinaloa area. Son, Tiburcio, lived in Guanajuato area. We have contact with Jesus' children in Novolato, Tijuana, Arizona and California, however, many of the family's records were lost after their parent's death. We would greatly appreciate any info.

Thank you for contacting me, please stay in touch?

Fr. Jose Ignacio Maximo Argüello studied for priesthood in Mexico (probably Guadalajara or Mexico City)

Sang High Mass at Mission San Gabriel, en route to visit his parents in Santa Barbara.

1809 dedicated new Mission Church of San Buenaventura.

Became Curate of Torin, on the Yaqui River in Sonora, Mexico.

Murdered in an uprising of the Yaqui Indians circa 1818.

CALIFORNIA'S FIRST NATIVE-BORN CATHOLIC PRIEST.

I am interested because of his 1st son- Jose Ignancio Maximo Arguello, the 1st Californian native to become a priest. My 6th grade teacher (a nun)is related to your family. Her question is: Where is Father Jose Ignacio buried. Sources indicate he died in Torim,Sonora in 1818 due to an Yaqui attack. I find no data for an attack that year. It is possible he is buried with his parents, in Sonora, or in his Mexican seminary. Do you have any information to add. Regarding Guadalajara, they are going on-line and you can get a view of the various on the internet.

Ive heard of your Dad Porfirio mentioned before by my tio Juan and Santiago but i dont think i have met your dad before. My Dad and my Mom actually left for Tacota today to visit. Im sure they will probably see your Dad while they are down there. I remember since we were kids we would always stop by my Tio Manual & Catalina's house in Tena every time we went to Mexico.....

BTW, my cousin Margarita is the person that passed away just recently. She died of cancer after struggling with it for a while. She was my age. Please keep her in your prayers. Rgds, Ramon
He is Porfirio, the youngest from Catalina and Manuel. There are several bros and sisters from the Olmos branch. They recently had a death in the family in "el rancho (Tacota)" which I believe would have been a cousin or neice to your dad.
I'm in WA state.

Hello there,
I was born in Hawaii and my last name was Robello. I was curious about my family and during my research I found that our last name had gone thru many changes. When leaving the Azore Islands off Portugal, it was spelled Rebelo, changed with the census to Robelo then to Robello. I found that it depended on the census taker to spell the names, since most of the immigrants couldn't read or write english.
Hope this helps in your search.

Katherine Robello

Mora family from Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Mx

I am researching my Grandfathers family. His name was Jesus Mora 1888-1979. His Parents were Narciso Mora (1866-1942) and Sabina Jaime (~1868-?). Narciso's parents were Tomas Mora and Salome Moran. Sabina Jaime has been difficult to research. On an old family tree her parents are Lasaro Nunez and Teresa Flores and "raised by" Refugio Jaime (married to Donaciana Pedroza). The notation could also be that Lasaro or Donaciana was raised by Refugio. I would appreciate any help in continuing to trace the family. Also, we know that someone came from Spain but not sure when. Does anyone know how to search for these records? Or the history of what route they would travel from Spain to Mexico. I see alot of people came through the US or Cuba. Thank you!
