Anthony,

Your grandfather might not have been Mexican. As I just found out, the original Asencio male came from Italy and moved to Spain. He was an Ambassador who traveled and had MANY wives and MANY women on the side. He had children with all of them. I believe his name was Diego, but I'm not really sure. I met one of my cousins when I worked part time at a gym and she filled me in on our history. I also know many of my family members, who I have NEVER met work with Immigration in the US and many are writers and involved in politics. I would guess that your grandfather really wasn't from Mexico. Good luck!

Hi Stacy,

Thanks for your response (which I just found now as it was placed in my 'spam' box).

That is interesting as people have always assumed that our family name is Italian.

Still, there's a lot of Asencio's in Mexico, and rumour has it that my Grandmother went to Mexico city on a trip and actually saw my Grandfather in a restaurant there (and promptly left).

One thing for sure, the Asencio's are educated and quite prolific as we can be found in many places.

Much Appreciated,

Anthony

You're welcome. The last name does originate from Spain, and if traced back it comes from Italy. The Spanish family traveled a great deal and so it's no surprise our last name is in other countries. We also have a family Crest.

And yes, the Asencio Family is a family with many talents and hold high power positions in the world.
