You're welcome. The last name does originate from Spain, and if traced back it comes from Italy. The Spanish family traveled a great deal and so it's no surprise our last name is in other countries. We also have a family Crest.

http://www.houseofnames.com/fc.asp?sId=&s=asencio

And yes, the Asencio Family is a family with many talents and hold high power positions in the world.

Stacy

Hi Stacy,

Thanks for your response (which I just found now as it was placed in my 'spam' box).

That is interesting as people have always assumed that our family name is Italian.

Still, there's a lot of Asencio's in Mexico, and rumour has it that my Grandmother went to Mexico city on a trip and actually saw my Grandfather in a restaurant there (and promptly left).

One thing for sure, the Asencio's are educated and quite prolific as we can be found in many places.

Much Appreciated,

Anthony

Anthony,

Your grandfather might not have been Mexican. As I just found out, the original Asencio male came from Italy and moved to Spain. He was an Ambassador who traveled and had MANY wives and MANY women on the side. He had children with all of them. I believe his name was Diego, but I'm not really sure. I met one of my cousins when I worked part time at a gym and she filled me in on our history. I also know many of my family members, who I have NEVER met work with Immigration in the US and many are writers and involved in politics. I would guess that your grandfather really wasn't from Mexico. Good luck!

Stacy Asencio

Dear Hugh,

You might try this Hispanic Genealogy group in California. They are a group for the Sonora, Mexico area (I think), but they might have information for who to ask or where to look regarding Mexico City's cemeteries.
familia_ancestral_research@juno.com
I, too, would like that piece of information as well. My grandfather was born in Mexico City, his father was born in Wooler, Northumberland (?), England. I don't know if my
g-grandparents died in Mexico City. Good Luck, and reply if you find anything, Susan

I am trying to locate one or more headstones in a Mexico City cemetery. The deaths occurred between 1875-1890 and the individuals were British citizens. Can anyone suggest what cemetery might have been used at that time and whether there is a website or other locator of the headstones?

Thank you.

Hugh Whitney

hello.. i was looking for some info on Carlos pacheco and came across your ad... i frankly don´t know if we are looking for the same Gral. Carlos Pacheco but we probably are... I wanted to tell you that if you are looking for Gral.Carlos´ son or any of his descendents, you need to use his last name not the mother´s. If the father is CARLOS PACHECO VILLALOBOS, then the son is SABINO PACHECO, and not SABINO VILLALOBOS, unless ofcourse, you know for a fact that the father´s lastname was purpously taken out.
Take Sabino for example.. his name is SABINO VILLALOBOS and he married JOSEFA SANCHEZ, so his son´s full name is LUCIANO VILLALOBOS SANCHEZ..
On the other hand, my grandmother who was born in 1912 is Carlos Pacheco´s niece, this is why i am looking for some info on the General´s history... i would appreciate any leads if you have them. thank´s

Hi

I am looking for information regarding the Mariscal, Oyarzabal, Hernandez and Yaniz families in Mexico.

My grandfather was Carlos Ignacio Mariscal (born: 1860, died 1909). He was a Captain in the Mexican military. His wife was Francisca Villegas (Born: 1865, died:?) My father was also Carlos Ignacio Mariscal (Born: Mexico City, 1899, died 1958 USA), His sister was Blanca Isabel Yaniz Mariscal and her husband was Federico Yaniz. My father also had at least one brother and it is his daughter that I am searching for. I do not know any of my father's brothers' names but in a USA census record that is not readable I think I may have found one. (the name is something like "Cuaulteins Mariscal" born in about 1894). I believe his wife was Isabel Oyarzabal born in about 1898. I am trying to determine their children's names. A daughter, I think of theirs - my first cousin who I have never met) then married a Hernandez in the early 1950s in Mexico City (I believe) in the church of Purialmo Corazon de Maria."
My father also had another sister named Beatrix or Beatrice born in about 1898 in Mexico City.
I am trying to find additional and confirming information regarding these connections and my father's brothers and sisters and their offspring, especially the first cousin noted above.

Any information? Any thoughts?

thanks

Juan Mariscal

Milton, I see your family did the same thing with the BUGARIN / BUGARINI TO BOGARIN susrname. These families are probably related in some way since they come from the same areas of Atolinga, Tlaltenango and Guadalajara. Since you are from there I was wondering if you know where I can locate birth or baptismal records for Tlajomulco? I am looking for Longinos Bugarin about 1868 give or take 10 years any guidance would be appreciated. If anyone has seen records for this period I would be glad to hear from you. THANKS!
