I am doing research in the area of Cosala, the former capital of Sinaloa. Most of the names you mention crop up all the time there. The church diocese covers Cosala and the town of Alaya. Apparently there was a church or chapel in Alaya and the priest from Santa Ursula, in Cosala, would travel there to perform cerimonies. If your Alaya and my Alaya are the same, you should request the records from Cosala through the Mormon church. Specific references I have found are: Santa Capilla de Alaya, La Casa Blanca de Alaya.

By the way, I have found many Avendaño's in this area but have yet to see Avendano.

mother's name was Maria Burgos.My father was born in

San Benito Sinaloa. He also mention Lopez and Gastelum
