hello, do you know what part of sinaloa her family was from? My parents are from the north. A town near guamuchil mexico. I have been looking around and i know that there were Taracahitic indians in the northwest coast of sinaloa and Fuerte, Yaqui, and Mayo in lower sinaloa. Your response to the associated e-mail is very intriguing insofar as, according to family lore, three brothers, Ignacio, Francisco and Marcos Antonio came North from Sonora in the late 1910s or early 1920s. They eventually settled in the Los Angeles area after having spent much time tin Arizona. The three names are very much family names.

In addition, there is a branch of Valenzuela's, now living in Los Angeles, among whose common givenname is Leonardo.

I know that. cause there are many people with Valenzuela's Last name.
But my grandfather were moved from Az. To Sonora around 1910 ahead.He had two boys and 1 girl in Mexico 1919.

My mother's paternal grandmother was born in a pueblito in Sonora, near Opodepe, (and of Yaqui descent)and her name was Ana Joaquina Valenzuela y Fernandez. We only know that she was an only child and came from a wealthy family, though when she and spouse (Antonio Montero, who was born in Don Fernando de Taos, New Mexico, Mexico) left Sonora to go to New Mexico, her cousins on the "Fernandez" side kept watch on her lands and eventually kept them. We know nothing much on the Valenzuela side (though it's a wonderful surname!).
