are Carlos fahur iguerra and genoveva fahur
gastelum my father in laws dads name is
Faisal or faisar fahur and they are from el
dorado, Sinaloa I think they might be related
because fahur is not a comon last name
and el dorado Sinaloa is a small town I

By coincidence when I was a banker I worked with Jose Esquer at the same bank.

Adelaida Mallen born around 1840, was my great-great-grandmother. Rafael Ezquerro was her husband.

I have pictures too! Maybe we can exchange information!

Marentes/Jauregui family in Sinaloa and Jalisco

Looking for Marentes relations. My husband's father was Merced Marentes Jauregui who was born in Canadas, Jalisco but lived most of his life in Arizona.

Merced's parents were Cleofas Marentes and Francisca Jauregui from Canadas, Jalisco. They had 6 children - 1)Tiburcio (married to Marcelina Mosquerra), 2)Delores (adopted children named Robles), 3)Isabel (married Eusevio Conterras), 4)Maria (married to Leon), 5)Merced (married Porfiria Escalante) and 6)Jesus (married to Rosario Garibaldi Renteria). The children were born in Canadas, but they all later moved to Novolato, Sinaloa area. Son, Tiburcio, lived in Guanajuato area. We have contact with Jesus' children in Novolato, Tijana, Arizona and California, however, many of the family's records were lost after their parent's death. We would greatly appreciate any info.

Sabe si hay libros de matrimonios en El Rosario, Rosario, por los periodos 1736 - 1754, y por 1806 - 1823? La iglesia LDS tiene filmas de los otros periodos, y de bautismos comemsando en 1671. Pero no encuentro a estas matrimonios alla.

Busco a los apellidos de Beltran y Sanchez que fueron de Rosario.

Stories are always more interesting. Thats why searching for records is better when looking for the truth. Is there a possiblility he had more than one wife. I had done some research for a relative of my daughter's husband. This man who was of German decent married(there was a record I found) a Yaqui woman (who happened to be one of his servants in Sonora, Mexico. They had a daughter but at some point he up and left her and took the daughter with him to California with his other mexican mistress. He settled in Florence Arizona and for years everyone thought him and the mistress were married and the girl their daughter. In time she became his wife according to common law because of the time they spent together there but later divorced. Anyway my point is, people always thought the daughter was this man's and his mexican mistress but in fact she was the daughter of the original wife(Yaqui) in Sonora who now know one knows to this day what became of her.

In 1985 I found the baptismal entry for John McKay's wife in the LDS archives. I had been searching for it precisely to determine the truth of her being Yaqui. The baptismal entry listed her as, much to my surprise, "Espanola" (not even "mestiza" much less "india"). But, the "story" of John McKay's Yaqui wife is better than the actual truth: Supposedly, upon John's arrival by boat from San Francisco to San Blas, on the gang plank leading to the pier, John's pants caught a nail and were ripped off of him, so he arrived on Mexican soil nude from the waist down. A Yaqui woman supposedly approached him and with the motion of her hands and fingers offered John to sew his pants. Supposedly he married this woman. This story was related to me repeatedly for 26 years, mostly by my uncle Raul Inzunza McKay who had heard the story from his mother, the daughter of Avila. When Raul was very sick with a stroke in 1985, I offered to research as much as I could to determine whether the story of our Yaqui ancestor was true or not. Raul lived long enough for me to show him the baptismal entry of Avila. We agreed the story was better than the reality...

I have a bit of information from what I used to hear from my great grandma(sebastiana salazar) from my grandpa (alfonso salcido) and from my mother who was also salcido and now Ayon as so am I...Rigoberto campos is my great uncle i know he was very close cousins with my granpa alfonso salcido who is my great grandma sebastiana's son...i know my uncle was from cosala, sinaloa and he was raised in a farm...on the other hand my great grandma is from durango she was my uncle rigo's aunt...i know my grandma also lived in tijuana as so did my uncle rigo where he was later killed because of the bussiness he was in...my uncle also had cousins which i only know by their nick names of "cochiloco" and "gavino"...that is the only bit of info i have since my family is pretty weiry of discussing to much with me because of the stuff my uncle was in to...i also know that my uncle rigo has a very famous mexican ballad composed after him by the great chalino sanchez..i dont know if this helps but it's all i got.

Families in Mocorito Angostura and Badiraguato

Although my maternal grandmother and grandfather met in Los Angeles, they were both from Sinaloa.

My grandmother was from La Ilama in Angostura and my grandfather was from Las Higueras de los Monzon in Badiraguato.

For some time now I have been collecting information about their families. I now have a lot of information and I am beginning to thread it all together on a family tree.

The family names that I have found are:

Castro Montoya Angulo Gastelum Camacho Elizalde Lopez Sanchez Inzunza Beltran Gaxiola Zamudio Arce Salazar

All of these families are either from Mocorito, Angostura or Badiraguato.

I would appreciate any information you might have about any of these families.

My mother's father was born in 1904 in Las Higueras de los Monzon, Badiraguato, Sinaloa.

His name was Pilar Garcia Zamudio. He was raised by his uncle, Onesimo Garcia, and his aunt, Jesus Gastelum de Garcia. They were also from Las Higueras de los Monzon.

I know that very close to Las Higueras de los Monzon is El Potrero de los Gastelum.

Some of my family is Gastelum and we have been trying to see how the Castros and the Gastelums are related.

Do you have any information as to this link?

For some time now I have been following your work and I just noticed that we do share many last names in Mocorito and Badiraguato.

My maternal grandmother, Felicitas Castro Montoya, was born in La Ilama in the municipio of Angostura in 1901. In 1901 it was still the municipio of Mocorito.

My grandmother Felicitas Castro Montoya's father, Anatolio Castro Sanchez, was born in 1883 in the municipio of Mocorito. He was the son of Juan Jose Castro and Prudencia Sanchez.

Anatolio Castro married Ramona Montoya Castro in 1900 in Mocorito. Ramona Montoya Castro was also born in 1883 in the municipio of Mocorito.

That is my lineage on my mother's side in La Ilama, Angostura/Mocorito Sinaloa.

My great-great-grandparents (maternal) were Eugenio Serrano(Cerro Agudo) and Epimenia Gonzalez(Las Milpas).I was born in Las Milpas de los Gonzalez, but grew up in California. My Grandfather name is Joesph Ascarrega Gonzales(born 3-7-1927 Died May 25,1985). My grandmother told me he didn't know how to spell Escarrega and spelled it with an A and it stuck with him until Death. He was born in Phx. Az under Jose Maria Gonzales.

His mother Narcisa Escarrega born in Guasave,Sinaloa Oct 18 1893 died June 13 1999 in Phx. Az.

Narcisa's brother and Sisters are not known Yet! But she has siblings

Her Father Policarpio Escarrega born in Guasave,Sinaloa Jan 23 1864. He was married to Conrada Rivera unk.birth.

Policarpio has 3 brother and 1 sister possibly more. They are:
Jose Feliz Escarrega Born Guasave Nov 20 1853 unk death
Jose Gambino Escarrega Born Guasave Aug 7 1856 unk death
Zeferino Escarrega Born Guasave Sept. 24 1861 unk death

Policarpio Father is Mariano Escarrega born abt 1833? . He was married to Longina Cruz. They are possibly from Guasave, Sinaloa.

I found this info from a note my grandmother found that my Grandfather wrote before he died. As you know I wanted the proof. So I searched several site and found the most on

They have not only the record of the Churches but they have Guasave,Sinaloa Birth Records. I have found you must spell the name Escarrega differant ways in order to find records and sometimes change the last name to the birth mother's last name. The spelling has changed with time and the Transcribers of these records couldn't read them and Guessed how to spell.

I am in Southern California. I am researching my maternal Grandparent Victor Anaya Escarrega (br.1890 El Fuerte, Sinaloa Mexico d.1964 West Covina, CA) father listed as Francisco and mother listed as Juana Anaya.

Victor married Angelita delcid Escarrega (br.1897 Nogales, Sonora Mexico d.1950 Los Angeles, CA). My mother is Artemisa Escarrega Rodriguez from Los Angeles, who is 82 years old.

My grandfather's (Cruz Avila) father was Bernabe Avila (b. 1867) near Vaca (El Fuerte) Sinaloa. I believe he died after April of 1915, and may be burried in Sonora.

His mother was Maria Louisa Miranda, who I believe is buried in Bosby, Arizona (no dtates).

There children were Cruz (1898), Frank (Pancho?) b. 1911, Juana (b, about 1894), Anita (b. 4/17/1905 in Las Juntas, Sonora), Ignacia, Antonia, and Zerceda.

Vaca is very close to Agua Zarca.Do you know who your grandfather's parents were? My great grandfather Blas Avila was born around 1856 and lived in Agua Zarca. There are Mirandas also in our famliy. His sister Logina Avila married a Ambrocio Miranda. They had a daughter Juanita Miranda in 1885.She later married a Corales.
Ambrocio Miranda's mother's last name was Gastelum.

Birth Records from Mazatlan, Sinaloa

Anyone had experience with obtaining birth records for relatives born in Mazatlan, Sinaloa? I am trying to obtain a birth certificate for my grandfather:

name: Eduardo Figueroa Mercado
date of birth: November 17, 1932
place of birth: Mazatlan, Sinaloa
mother: Virginia Figueroa
father: Vincent Mercado

I've registered at the Sinaloa state website and run a search for birth records but can find nothing, and I'm sure I've entered the data correctly. Is this unusual?

Where have others found such records? Is there a place in Sinaloa I should write to in order to obtain the certificate via mail? Anyone have the address and know the amount of the fee?
