Where is she buried? Who is Ortie? Is she living? If so, where? Does she have any children living? Are the immigration records public? If so, where could I see them? I've found some Cuen family members in the online trees of other submitters who are from Emures, Covachi, Prietas & San Marcial but can't see any connections. I have her birth as May 27, 1907. This information was determined from Ortie Beltran and from Immigration records. Her grave say that she was born on June 27, 1907.

So how are you related? As I said, Solia is my son-in-law's mother's mother, his grandmother. Certain that his mom's spelling of her mother's name is correct since she is named Solia also after her mother. Think you have got it spelled wrong. She was married to Erasto Hernandez Ortiz from Penjamo, Guanajuato who died in 2001 in San Jose. Did not know where the Cuen's were from. My son-in-law is an Ortiz. I do not know about the Cuen/Ortiz Cora connection. Did you get my email address? Did you have an online tree? More later, Ralph

Where are your Cuen's from? Do you have an online tree? Solia married Leonzo Beltran and they emigrated to US, San Jose, California. My daughter's mother-in-law is a Beltran. I'm not sure where Solia Cuen was born except the State of Sonora, Mexico. ralphdelange@hotmail.com

I ran across your grandfather name and grandmothers name.
It looks like your grandfather was from Guymas and your grandmother Delfina was from Hermosillo Sonora Mexico Please refer to genealogy.az.gov and type in Franciso Huerta. My grandmother Maria Escamilla was a de la huerta from Hermosillo but her father was an escamilla and she married Francisco Huerta. While working in the agricultural fields she met up with some of her cousins. I think it is a possibility that these might be her cousins. My grandmother Maria de la Huerta Escamilla Huerta mother was Herlinda De la Huerta and she had numerous brothers and sisters. A very large family. Maybe this will help you find your family, wish you luck. Try family search.org.

Edwin md Marina DURON who was b. 1864 Aconchi Sonora MX,many of the family moved back and forth between Cochise Co AZ, and Sonora MX.We cannot find Edwin's death in AZ, so believe he died in Sonora, when? There were 5 children born to the couple, Matilda, Josefa, Luz, Anita,and Alfredo Schweitzer, Josefa is my friend's grandmother, and Josefa's daughter, Paula is going to be 100 years old next Jan. My 5th Gen-greatgrandfather was Francisco Monreal his wife was Maria Anastacia Lopez de Aros she was the Godmother of Jose Teofilo Urias it is the Guevavi-Oquitoa Records.Francisco Aquired 4000 Acres of land in Sonora on 1801,Some their Children Married into the Celaya families my Maternal Grandfather was Jose Monreal married Virginia Urias another well Known family in the Altar Area,they had a house between Salvador Moraga and Estevan Redondo.There is a Rancho de Aros in Zacatecas in 1754 don't if its from the Family.

I'm sorry i can't write in spanish but i do understand it. Most of my family came from Hermosillo, sonora and while my greatgrandparents were traveling to Arizona, US, my grandmother was born in Nogales, sonora. So i'm pretty sure i have family in Arizona that i don't know of and maybe some still in Hermosillo, like cousins with the name Feliz. I hope this helps. My greatgrandmother's last name was Moreno.

The aros of sonora were "lopez de aros " My 5th gen.Great-Grandfather Francisco Monreal,his wife Maria Lopez de Aros bapt. a Teofilo Urias in Guevai or Oquitoa in the mid 1700.Both of them were from the Presido of Tubac She was most likely s relating to Capt.Teodoro Lopez de Aros who replace Ignacio Elias Gonzalez on Nov.1,1824 in Tumacacori. the name most of shorten to Aros, Aros family later move to southern California where they aquire Cattle Ranches but did return to Arizona also as rancher.some married to Urias,Celaya and Few other Families that were Ranchers.

A search for Lugarda Curiel in Rayon, Sonora, in the FamilySearch.org site - under "Search Pilot" - shows her baptism on 10 Feb 1870 in Rayon. Parents were Francisco Curiel and Leocadia Pacheco.

I also did a search just using Curiel in Sonora and there was one other entry for Rayon with the same parents: Maria Matilde, baptized 1 March 1867. There were Curiels in Arizpe in the mid 1700s. Your grandmother's family might have lived there before going to Rayon.

I am looking for any information on my great-grandmother. Her name was Lugarda Curiel and she was born in Rayon, Sonora in 1869. I haven't been able to trace back any further than her. She married John Henry Myers and had 9 children; 6 girls and 3 boys. She also had a niece named Guadalupe.
She moved to the US, El Paso I think, then to the Los Angeles California area, where she died in 1939.

Any and all help, including names, dates, places will be greatly appreciated.

My grandfather Jose Ramon Sonoqui Mayboca was born in Granados Sonora in 1910 he were married with Maria Figueroa his sons Eduwiges,Manuel,Magdalena,Fausto(my father)and Rosa, we actually live in Hermosillo, Sonora. I´m not sure about the name of my great-grandfather , maybe could be one of them, Jose Ramon pass away in november of 2006.

This is a great site! However, the person has to be dead or born more than 50 years ago.

I am originally from Ajo, Arizona which is very close to the Sonora, Mexico border. This site has been a great help in finding and copying a lot of my family's birth and death certificates where you can then obtain other info. Many, many people in Ajo came from Sonora. During the Mexican Revolution, Pancho Villa's troops frequented Ajo and many soldiers stayed to work in the mine or retired there and are buried in the cemetery. Some people originally settled in other Arizona cities working in mining towns, but later moved to Ajo as their mines closed. The Ajo copper mine was one of the largest in the world when I was a child in the 50's and 60's, but the population of Ajo was at about 8-10,000 people. It is now closed and the majority of the people have moved to other cities in Arizona - mainly Phoenix, Tucson and Prescott areas. Many Ajo people also moved to California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas during the many mining strikes. They went to work temporarily, but never returned. Well, I hope this is of help to someone!

Looking for info on grandmother's family around Caborca and Hermosillo. She was Maria Concepcion (Chona) Rivera Garcia who married Miguel Mesa Perez from San Luis Potosi. They lived in Caborca, Sonoita, and Ajo, Arizona. She had brothers Jose and Anjel, sisters Rosa, Marina, Margarita and Librada. All her children lived in Ajo, Arizona. Some of her siblings lived in San Diego and LA area. I believe there were also Flores and Ramirez cousins. Any information is greatly appreciated.

I beleive Eloisa Dorame is my husband's great aunt. She married Willie Marquand and had three children, Maria Rita, Rosella and Juanito. Her sister was Rita Dorame (Marquez) Maria Rita married Leo H. Hochstatter. My husband is the grandson of Rita Dorame. Rita married Francisco Marquez and one of the daughters, Mercedes married Carlos Mariscal. My husband is their oldest child.

Searching for the link between the Otero families in Sonora and Arizona. My g-g-g-grandfather was Manuel Otero of Alamos, married to Maria Clara Martinez. The AZ Oteros have a long oral history that the family in Sonora is related to them. No one has been able to substantiate this claim. AZ Oteros related to the branch in Sonora lived primarily in Nogales, Tubac, and Tucson. Any help is deeply appreciated.

I have Jacoba Villa written down as I was given it....
Maria del Carmen Jacoba Villa. (I get so confused with the placement of the hispanic names- and more confused with so many names for one person)
Father Domingo Villa
Mother Hilaria Narvaez 1845 – 1868
Domingo Married her stepmother Carolina after the death of Hilaria when Jacoba was very young.US census shows Jacoba (also listed as Acoba)living with her father and new family.
My ggrandfather is Joseph Francisco Mattos (Manuel Azevedo Mattos's brother)Thank you for the added information I needed to help clear up somethings.

Is your Rafael Robles from the Guaymas area? I have one ancestor Encarnacion Robles that is from that area. I know nothing about her parents or siblings. She married Agustine Arenas and they, with their children, came to CA about 1852.

We are not sure if Pascual was born in Cananea, Sonora, or in Arizona. The family crossed the border at Naco several times between 1913 and 1920. Father was Marcos Angulo, mother Concepcion Cisneros. Younger siblings, Librado, Mary, and Marcos born in Cananea.
What did you discover when checking Angulos in Sonora?

Hi Susan, am working on it, will get back to you when I get the info, the census of Sonora that your asking about. If you look on the boards there are messages of the census in many areas of Mexico, even Sonora if I'm not mistaken.

Thank you for the info, this is difficult because I think my grandmother, Maria, was one of 7 children. She was born in San Marcial in 1878, married my grandfather, Jose Carlos Camino Enrique Yllanes Ainslie (or Ainslie Yllanes) in San Marcial, Sonora, in 1899. The problem is that I don't have her full name. Her father was Francisco Fimbres, possibly born in Montezuma, Sonora, c. 1824. Of her siblings, I have absolutely no idea their names, and of their families. I don't know how to obtain a census of Sonora, as I don't speak Spanish (shame one me!). Carlos and Maria lived in Hermosillo, Sonora and had 10 children there. I believe he was a lawyer. Carlos was originally from Mexico City, then he worked in Hermosillo. They left Hermosillo about 1920 - 21 for Los Angeles.

I didn't see Francisco's name in your message, darn it! I would suppose there are many Fimbres, so it is a real challenge to find the one I am looking for. But, keep me posted on your work. Good luck, Susan
