I am looking for information concerning my gg-grand parents. The information I have is as follows. My gg-grand father: Jose Damian CAVAZOS married to Maria Guadalupe RODRIGUEZ. They had a daughter: Maria Susana CAVAZOS. She married Jose Carlos CADENA on 31 January 1876.

I would also like to find my gg-grand parents on the CADENA side. The information for them is as follows. Jose Rafael CADENA married Maria Clara CANALES. They had 18 children and one son is my g-grandfather. His name is Jose Esteban CADENA. He married Maria Guadalupe GARZA.

I would appreciate any help or information that is provided. Thanks.

I am looking for my ggrandparents and my grandparents, they were from Marin, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. My grandparents names Juan Cadena Benavides and Rita Benavides Zamora. I believe they were from the State of Tamaulipas, Mexico the ranchito was called Sabinto Ranchito. My ggrandparents were named Don Apolonio Cadena, and Mariana Benavides. They were from Marin, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, they were married 11-12-1862 at the Church of La Asuncion. My other set of ggrandparents were named Francisco Benavides Benavides, and Manuela Zamora. I believe they were from the State of Tamaulipas, Mexico but I am not sure. I believe my ggrandparents migrated to Revilla which is now called Guerrero Nuevo and that might be where they met my grandparents families. I'm not sure about this information, but if you have any information please write to me at pr4449ka@meteor.uscolo.edu.

Antonio Cadena Vergera b 1625 Wichipan (?)m Luisa de la Garza b 1633 Monterrey d 27 May 1678 Monterrey. Luisa is daughter to Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon and Beatriz Gonzalez Hidalgo, known lineages ect..He married twice, his first wife was Ma Isabel Lobo Guerro de las Casas in 1648. (I kinda know the lineage of his first wife, but since I'm giving you all this info, can some one please give back to me Ma Isabel Lobo Guerro's lineage, I'd appreciate it.)

Jose Uribe Vergera Tovar b unk m abt 1620 in Nueva Espana
Ma Cadena Pacheco d unk in Puebla, Mexico City (?)d unk Puebla

Catalina Cadena Gomez Malvenda or Maluenda b abt 1440, Burgos, Spain m Garcia Gomez de Lerma Vela

Pedro's parents are, because I'm pretty sure these two were Primos Hermanos. But this is not verified.

Fernando Malvenda and Ana Romero, vecinos of Burgos, Spain.

Alvar Rodriguez Malvenda b 1420 Burgoa m unk, Burgos, Lenor Alvarado, whose father IS Pedro Alvarado, Conquistador, anyone know ANYTHING about him, maybe some book I might read?

No known info on Ana Romero, as yet.

Catalina Gomez Malvenda n unk, daughter of Pedro Gomez Malvenda and Maria de Cadena. This is all I have for now, but my source says that the Cadena name came form a King, whose name I can't pronounce, from a region I can't pronounce, but I will quote my source verbatim, when I find it to this forum, but that tghis King was fighting the Moors, for return of his Kingdom, and he found the enemy in a park of some kind, with a chain around the perimeter, he broke the chain, and encountered the his enemy, won his land back, and hence forth he was known as so and so de la Cadena, which reflects on the Coat of Arms, if you look at it. I hope this helps all you Cadena descendants. It took me awhile, cause

I descend from Phelipe de Uribe, whose father is Antonio Cadena Vergera and Ma Luisa de la Garza, Uribe's descend from Jose Uribe Vergera Tovar b unk m 1620 d unk.

Pedro Uribe Vergera b 1582 unk m 1607, Lenor Tovar, unk where. If you can fill in the gaps, my thanks.

Isabel Pacheco Conteras's parents are: Pedro Conteras Ruiz de Alarcon and Isabel Pacheco Padierna. She married Capt. Antonio Cadena de Bullon, he was also a Lic., whatever that means.

My source is Mil Familias de Tamps, Nuevo Leon and Tejas, I think, if you need it correctly, along with the arthor of the book, I'll post it with the verbatim source for the Cadena name later on this week.

If I HELP anybody, please let me know.

Judy: I posted this earlier in the Cadena forum, but I was reading your email, and I saw a possible connection of your Joose Rafael Cadena and Clara Canales.

In the source I quoted, Appellidos de Tamps, Nuevo Leon, y Texas of Rudoplho Gonzales de la Garza, it lists Cadena Lineage, that's what I posted, there is a Jose Rafael Cadena Saenz b 1778 in Agualeguas, NL who married Clara Canales Salinas on 14 Oct 1800 in Cerralvo.

His Parents: Gregorio Javier Cadena de la Villareal. B 1725 in Mier, NL died 10 Sept 1792 Cerralvo, NL m Sp 2: Lugarda Saenz de Serna 25 Jul 1774 in Vall.(?), NL (I dont know what this is an abreviation for, maybe someone else does?)m Sp1: Margarita Trevino in 1755

Clara Canales Salinas's parents are: Unknown at this time, but I'm working on it.

And then the lineage goes according to my Cadena post to Burgos, Spain

I have not been feeling well lately, have recuperatated somewhat now, and on my way to the library, where i will try to get some info on Clara Canales Salinas.

This may be YOUR Rafael and Clara, although their are no children listed to them. But you might want to check it out, they are related to my Antonio Cadena de Vergera who married Luisa de la Garza. Lotsa Luck!

Regards,
Gloria

Char,

A good starting point would be the SAGA (Spanish American Genealogical Association) Church Records. These books contains info on baptisms, marriage, and death records from the various towns. You can find them as reference books in your library or you can buy from SAGA. Please check their webpage. http://members.aol.com/sagacorpus/saga.htm

Hello Gloria,

I saw your email to Judy on the MEX-TAM, Mex Query Forum. I am
researching my PEREZ Line who lived in those early Rio Grande River
settlements. May I ask you what sources do you use to locate your
ancestors. I'm only aware of the Family History Center (Morman) and the
Archives for TX Census. I don't speak or read Spanish, so the several
tapes for Camargo, that I obtained through the Family History Center
were, as expected, in Spanish and that left me nowhere fast.

I'm searching for Lopez PEREZ, b 1813 in Mex. He had a ranch near San Diegoego, Nueces Co. (now Duval Co). I believe Lopez came from Mier. His
cousin, Nicolas PEREZ, b 1832 was located in Rancho Randado, Zapata Co.
(now Jim Hogg Co.). I believe Nicolas came, probably, from Camargo
since all the other PEREZ living in Rancho Randado were from Camargo.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you may wish to offer on
sources for me to investigate. Any sources in English, or do I need to
find an interpreter? I can do that.

Thank you very much in advance.

Sincerely,

Char Weisell Cole
